Finding cheapest aftermarket GPU with 240hz support
Posted: 03 Oct 2019, 03:38
Hello guys! Currently i stuck with a problem, i plan to upgrade my PC, but i am a bit limited with my budget.
I mostly play old or games with low graphics requirements (osu, csgo, cs1.6, half life, quake etc.)
I plan to buy rx 2080ti super or rx 2080 super in future to play modern AAA titles, but for now i need a cheapest aftermarket graphics card which support 240hz. As far as i know, the main issue is driver support, since amd GPU's have displayport 1.2 starting from HD 6000 series, some old gtx 580 also have dp 1.2,
Note: please dont offer cards like 1050, 970, 780 , rx 470, rx 480 etc. those cards are too new and cost 150$+, its a waste of money for me since i plan to buy high end GPU in future and gtx 560-570 performance is fine (240-1000 fps in the most old titles) for my current needs.
I just need to know, if someone can confirm working 240hz on old amd/nvidia GPU with displayport 1.2 for example (HD 6900,7900, r9, r7, gtx 650, gtx 750 etc, gtx 580, old quadro (rofl).)
So the main point of this topic is to find cheapest aftermarket GPU that have confirmed and tested 240hz support, that would be extremly useful for people like me, that plan to have a temporary solution for a couple of month, before buying high end latest and greatest GPU. Or mayby someone already have high end old gpu, that meets the personal gaming requirements and want to know, if he need or not need to upgrade GPU just to get 240hz. Also, that would be interesting to test if its possiable to get 240hz using onboard graphics.
People with old GPU's and newest 240hz screens are welcome to test their screens! Please share your compatibility results.
Feel free to share minimum gpu requirements provided by different 240hz screens manufacturers. Also, share your oppiniong about possiable issues in such use case like high delay because of low bandwidth.
