My rig high end gaming pc , very high fps but still choppy or micro stutter at gaming with this newly 144hz monitor.
Old 60hz 1920x1080 runs fine very smooth at gaming, then why this newly ASUS VG258Q 144hz freesync monitor choppy ...
For many months of using, I recently discover there is a " Trace Free " function in this monitor, play with it ...
Then when I turn this feature to " 0 " ( it has no off option, just number gears ) , all my games choppy and micro stutter is gone ...
Just to let you guys know ...

This is abnormal way to fix stutter -- the extra motion blur is simply hiding the stutter -- so it is only a band-aid.
- Does it stutter in Windows?
- What sync settings are you using? VSYNC OFF uncapped?
(A)
Please test
www.testufo.com/frameskipping with Trace Free other than 0, and let me know if your monitor is frame skipping.
It's possible some monitors have buggy overdrive that will frameskip when enabled.
(B)
Also, are you aware of multimonitor stutters caused by refresh rate interference between a 60Hz monitor and a 144Hz monitor? The stutters disappear when you unplug the 60Hz monitor. You can make your 144Hz monitor the primary and run only fullscreen-exclusive on the primary (with no windows on the secondary, or only static non-animating document windows like Word / Notepad on the second monitor for things like walkthroughs).
Let's see how to fix your stutters without the Trace Free -- there is definitely a problem if you need to use Trace Free to fix stutter.

I have choppy/microstutter if i play with dual monitor, being the main one the xl2411z (144hz 1920x1080) and a lg 4k ips, everytime i want to play i have to disconnect in the 4k monitor in the nvidia panel, i also have a scaling problems with several applications such as Eclipse, i do not know a proper fix for that.
