My biggest frustration with 240hz monitors

Hi guys,
So last year I gave the zowie XL2546 a shot. experience 240hz first impressions were great but slowly I began to think it's not the best solution to run it at 240hz if your cpu can not sustain a fully 240hz all the time.
I hope you guys can help me to decide what to do.
I play battlefield as my main game and optimized it to run at 230hz including the 230hz monitor trick I've read here on the forums with the least amount of crosstalk.
The problem is that game can not maintain 230hz all the time.. in fact my average fps measured is around 210fps and 1% low around 180 fps
So I've made an custom resolution with CRU to 180hz and and adjusted the crosstalk band with the software.
But the screentearing is awful!
Is it possible to run it as clear as 230hz at all? Without v sync?
Second question is now I downgraded the refresh rate how much more input latency is created because it's native refreshrate is 240hz?
Thanks for your help
