RESOLUTION question via old monitor

Post by chandler » 20 Jan 2021, 00:46

Im very irritated by one small thing,

I just finished installing win10pro on a p8z77 rig (with gtx970)

the monitor in question is FUJICOM FJ2430 1080p 24" 60hz 5ms (ye, I know, horrendous. but its just that Ive got it laying around the house for almost a decade and decided to hook it up just for simple usage and browsing)

it is connected via DVI, and the driver is the latest , 461.09 (January 9th I think).

once u install the gpu drivers it should display at highest resolution by default, and for some reason, it did go up to ONLY 1280x1024@75hz, so I entered the display settings only to find out that the 1080p max res is present there, it is just not the RECOMMENDED one, and WIN10 picked the one thats recommended, while I saw some cases of windows recommendation about scaling at over 100% (125 or even 150) ive never seen it happen with the native resolution of a display.

is there anybody here who also came across such a thing?

I've had this before, seems like a bug. Windows is trying to go for the highest refresh rate as opposed to highest resolution.
