Problems with BB Strobe Utility on Triples [fixed]

Hi guys, Very new to this and I just wanted to report my experience and get some input.
These may all be well known amongst you.

- The BB Strobe Utility for BenQ does not work with Nvidia Drivers 335.23 or 337.5beta. I had to roll back to my previous driver (327.23) before it would work again. Those are the only drivers I've tested.(BTW, I always do clean driver installs/uninstalls - complete sweep of registry etc.)

- After going from a single monitor @1980x1080 to triples @5760x1080 I found I could no longer use the Create Custom Resolution to add my own refresh rates or implement the 1350 tweak which I had done when running just the single monitor. Normal?

- The BB utility only effects one of my screens, the center one.

All 3 monitors are running at 120hz (I can confirm this by the control panel and the screen's info. box as well as the obvious visual improvement).

:?: I was wondering if maybe I have to use the BB utility on one screen at a time by disabling surround, choosing monitor #1 > apply 1350 tweak > run BB utility > go back, and enable only monitor #2, rinse and repeat.

Thank you,
Bailey

First, let's temporarily ignore the VT1350 tweak since that is harder to do in surround mode.
To begin, calibrate BB Strobe Utility in surround mode, then note the settings you did. Or simply exit surround, calibrate all three simultaneously (without VT1350) then re-enable surround.
Or if you don't want to exit surround, swap the primary around (via swapping cable) set the same slider settings, do this for the two side monitors. Now the monitor remembers its settings even through a driver upgrade.

Now the driver upgrade should not have caused Strobe Utility to stop working, at least in non-surround mode, as some other 337.50 users has used it successfully while in non-surround mode. I will investigate this week. Do you remember if you left the monitor in service menu mode or other mode that is known to not work with Strobe Utility, since you might have coincidentally left the monitor in such a mode while on 337.50?

Hi Chief, Did I mention how nice it was to have a smart guy like you around? :) Well it really is and I appreciate it.
swap the primary around (via swapping cable) set the same slider settings, do this for the two side monitors.
Will do, hadn't thought to swap cables was simply going to deactivate surround and keeping changing which monitor would be in use in single monitor mode one by one. Will do it via cable swap.
Do you remember if you left the monitor in service menu mode or other mode that is known to not work with Strobe Utility, since you might have coincidentally left the monitor in such a mode while on 337.50?
If service menu mode means... did I leave the monitors on screen menu open - then no, I didn't do that.
If other mode means ... did I choose a Display mode that does not allow you to use MBR? I've only tried FPS1 and Standard.

Hope I'm reading you correctly, sorry if I'm not.

As to whether or not the Utility would work with a single monitor using the latest driver, that I can't answer. I updated the driver when I received my two add'tl monitors... to my recollection I hadn't' tried different drivers until after setting up surround.

Chief, I updated the driver again to the latest beta (337.50) to test your instructions.
You are absolutely correct. The strobe utility is adjusting all 3 monitors at the same time when not in Surround. This is much easier than swapping cables or selecting only one screen at a time.
Problem solved!
Thank you,
:)

Excellent news!
Now the next step is getting the VT1350 or VT1500 tweak working in surround mode, if you think this is worth it! Since you may be the first to try, if you succeed, then post instructions here for others to be able to follow.

Hey Chief, I am seriously enjoying these monitors, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Had some tearing issues that drove me batty until I resolved them with a different driver but not until after I'd tried so many settings I thought I'd lost my marbles, lol.
I'm not so lucky that each of my race sims would like the same settings (Vsync, Frame Limit etc.) so it's taking me some time to find the sweet spot for each.
I did "try" to use the VT tweak by disabling surround and setting each individual monitor to 120hz and changing it in each but encountered some odd, unstable behavior when attempting it on the last of the three.
As I am such a novice I didn't want to try a different method without advice.
I'm all ears when you have the time. :)

Just wanted to add a bit of info that may help others having issues with the Blur Buster Strobe Utility working, and then not working.

I had installed the program when my monitor was plugged into the top DVI slot in my video card. I moved a few things around and ended up plugging the monitor into the second DVI slot. While all of this was happening, I installed the BenQ Display Pilot, updated my graphics drivers, downloaded/installed some ICCs, and created a few custom profiles. When I attempted to use the the strobe utility again, it wouldn't work. I tried repairing it, reinstalling it, uninstalling Display Pilot, removing ICCs, messing with the refresh rates and blur reduction, rolled back previous graphics drivers, and restarting quite a few times after different steps. The Utility still wouldn't work.

After combing the forums a bit, I came across this post and decided to try to switch my DVI cable back to the top slot. The utility instantly worked; I didn't even have to restart the monitor. So... If you switched the port it was plugged into, maybe try switching it back if the Utility isn't working for you.

If anyone has any insight as to why this occurred, I'd love to know more about it.

Cheers,
James

Edit: Also, this program is awesome. Super big thanks to everyone involved.

You can use the service menu to adjust the blur reduction settings if you have problems with multiple monitors.
It's good to have the service menu on also, since you can have double strobe set to off by default and still change the phase and duty (this Is only to avoid the 50hz bug where single strobe fails to activate at 50hz and the LED's go into overdrive brightness instead) but anyway:

if you hold down menu for 5 seconds while the power is plugged off, then press power while holding down menu (all you have to do is hold menu down 5 seconds, that triggers service mode unlock, then press power), you can enter the service menu and make adjust ments there on all the screens.
