Hi,

I bought an hp omen x25f coming from an old benq xl2411p and i'm so disappointed by its performance. While the picture is very good for a tn panel (way better than the benq), the speed is not there. This is very ironic for a so called 240hz that uses new AUO tn panel...gets destroyed by a 5 year old 144hz monitor. That's a shame. By the way, in my game i run at 250 to 350 fps, only rarely gets below 200.
I tried to set the monitor at 160hz or 144hz, but it actually makes things even worse and slower.
I really don't understand how the hp omen x25 has been used in the overwatch league, this thing is slow.
Just a rant and a warning to people who think of buying this, this is not a very fast monitor and gets beaten by xl2411p 144hz easily...

what speed are you talking about? Response time, input lag or is everything very blurry?

I went from xl2411t to omen and I can't say the same thing. x25f is just better
Also you should not use non-native refresh rate because it will most likely has more input lag and more pronounced motion artifacts/blur

I tried two HP X 25f and both suffered from unacceptable pixel inversion artifacts (vertical lines when moving in game) and blurry text when scrolling webpages beside that the X25f felt fast and snappy so I'm not agree with your statement maybe you are doing something wrong or you got a faulty panel.

I'm talking about response time.

Ok, so after continuing using it, It's actually not that bad. I still feel the xl2411p is snappier though. Maybe it's cause i drop under 200fps when the game advances. It goes as down as 140fps at worse on a 240hz display, maybe it's the reason.
I think, if your game often drops under 240fps, you're way better using a 144hz display. At least in my little experience with my two monitors.

My experience is showing that some better-than-average 240+ Hz IPS now outperforms many only-average 240 Hz TN panels, in many important real-world metrics.

In a nutshell, the experience I have (I only play CS:GO) with inputlag, responstimes or smoothness with the VG259QM IPS vs X25f TN was negligible or almost imperceptible.
I am not using any kind of sync, playing fullscreen on native resolution, biggest and most important difference for me was the absence of the typical TN pixel inversion artifacts and blurry text in windows with the VG259QM IPS and ofc the better colors, contrast and viewing angles, all those pros together makes this monitor more suitable for general use and not only for gaming.
Must be lucky this time in the panel lottery I guess because the typical negative IPS properties (IPS glow and Backlight bleeding) are minimal on my unit or maybe the new 2020s IPS are less prone to it, that's also possible ofc.
In that respect the LG 24LG600 or XG2402 (although I appreciate the XG2402) don't even come close to the VG259QM.

It's further real world confirmation that I've been witnessing the best IPS performance finally truly overlap (or exceed) average TN performance.
