Hello guys, I have Viewsonic XG2530 - 240hz via DP. When I am using 240hz (239.964), I have weird delay. Like enemies having insane reaction times and I am having difficult times to kill anybody. Hovewer after switching to display port 1.1 from monitor menu which gives me 144hz max. I can start playing normal. What do you think cause of this? I have DP 1.4 Paugge vesa certificate cable.

My system:
Asus Rog Strix z590 Gaming E
Intel I7 11700k
Corsair vengeance lpx 32gb 3600mhz cl16
Msi Gtx 1080 Gaming X+
CM Power supply 750w 80+

are you playing with capped fps? 144hz with 144fps and 240hz 244fps?

I am capping my frames with RTSS to 400fps and getting like 350-400 fps from cpu intensive games.

lol ur not going crazy but some people in here will tell u its in ur head; however i would like to know how long its been since uve made this switch. as far as networking goes dropping the bandwith rate the line has to send effectively increases the snr, data cables work in the same way

I have a similar problem, DP 1.4 feels terrible and impossible to play anything, im using hdmi 2.0 right now for 240hz, maybe you can try it with hdmi.

Or try other cables if possible.

Here my logical guess, which COULD be the case:
If you capped your FPS to 144 before, and you noticed the increase of lag when capping your FPS to 240, then it's probably because of your GPU utilization. More FPS = high GPU utilization = high input lag. It's because, the GPU will have to do more work. It's not good to run your GPU at 85-100%. You will get much more input lag. So much input lag, that the lower frame times from your FPS doesn't even matter! With lower utilization, the lower the lag will get.
Quick example:
You run your game at 240fps, but your gpu is often at 90-100% most systems will have min. 40ms - max. 70ms input lag.
But, if you cap your fps rock solid. A fps number you always achieve, no matter in which situation. Let's say you will get around 50% GPU utilization on 144fps.
You will get about min. 20ms - max. 50ms input lag!
So if you switch from 144fps to 240 fps, often the only advantage is more visibility, not always lag! It's of course different from system to system. If you have low GPU utilization even on 240fps, then I don't know why you get more lag.

Btw, if you are always running on high gpu usage, Nvidia reflex is a great way to reduce input lag on heavily gpu bound scenarios. But you wont see a big difference for low gpu usage.
All in one, capping your frames is probably the best way to reduce your lag! After upgrading GPU...

Here is a screenshot of a very popular YouTuber, who tested this with a very consistent measuring method.

Yesterday I ordered HDMI 2.1 cable which i think solved the problem. Hovewer I cant get picture from BIOS using HDMI 2.1 :)
Now I am using 2 cables. DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 together... Also I can clearly say that, todays hardwares are not well optimized or tested. They are just advertising and getting our money i guess. If you are having weird delay etc. Try to lower your monitor Hz or ram speeds and timings as well.

TLDR: I am using windows with hdmi 2.1, going into bios with DP 1.4...
