G sync gives me flickering black bars sometimes

Sometimes when I’ve just started playing a game I get flickering black bars and my fps drop at the same time, if I disable g sync neither of these happen. I’m on the latest nvidia driver, have the latest monitor drivers, have v sync on in control panel and I’ve tried two different cables. A factory reset seemed to fix it when it first happened a couple weeks back but last week it started again. I have a s271dfa which is g sync compatible. Do you think it’s a firmware issue?
