xl2720z questions

Hi guys,

Amazing resource. It's too bad most of it is still beyond me. I have a couple questions though you can hopefully answer?

I read this thread, but I don't have the option to select low blue light mode? http://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic ... 720z#p6791 It's greyed out. When selecting picture mode, the only 3 choices I get are game modes 1,2, and 3? I have installed the driver only. Do I need to install display pilot as well to get see what low blue light mode is? Turning blur reduction on or off doesn't seem to make a difference, the option isn't one I can select.

Second, does anyone know what the differences are between game modes 1 and 2? 1 seems richer color wise while 2 seems to be faster. I know that can't be right because they're both running the game (titanfall) at 120fps, so they should be identical.

Use standard display mode to get the option for low blue light mode (its works well to reduce eye strain).

Hi mdzapeer,

Thanks for the reply. I'm an old man having a hard time sorting my way through the manual. It seems most of the options I try are greyed out/unavailable and the directions on how to go from a to b aren't the clearest. For starters, I have no clue what the difference is between display mode and picture mode.

When I hit display mode, I'm just given screen size options. When I hit picture mode, I'm just given gamer 1,2,3 options.

I have found that I can enable low blue light mode by going menu/system/custom key 1,2, or 3, then enable and save low blue light mode; however, the problem is that for the life of me I can't figure out how to back out of that and get back to game mode 1,2, or 3? No matter what, once I enable low blue light mode it's there for good no matter which hotkey I hit; checking the settings, blue light is enabled in the place where picture mode usually is. I have to reset all to get rid of it.

Alas, I can agree that the BENQ picture settings are confusing. There are known behavior quirks with the interaction with the blue light mode with the game modes, as the blue light setting isn't saved as part of the game mode settings. I've already reported this to BENQ, so hopefully BENQ addresses this behavior in their future monitor, such as the G-Series.

This issue has been resolved with V3. I am able to use a Gamer profile and use the low blue light feature. It does save.

It is good that BENQ fixed this for V3 -- I reported this problem to BENQ and they said they would fix gamer profiles + Low Blue Light for Version 3 firmware.

The strange thing is I have 3 XL2720z's ( My eyes are going bad ) and they are all different. Two with V2, and I just got another with V3. Newegg had a $80 off sale so I got the new one for $369. The color is also different on all three of them. I made sure all the settings were the same. Also, each model had different settings out of the box. I would like to flash the other 2 to V3. I love these monitors though. Just played COD AW in surround. Amazing!!
