G-SYNC on CSGO capped at 326 fps

Hi,

I started to use G-SYNC for playing csgo. It appears that I relly like it, more than uncapped G-SYNC off.

But the issue, if there is one when I set G-SYNC on with:
- NvCP V-SYNC on and ULL off, and fps_max 357, my fps are capped at 334.
- NvCP V-SYNC on and ULL Ultra, and fps_max 357, my fps are capped at 326.

I don't understand why I can't reach 356-7 fps. Is this normal?

Thanks for your answers!

If you're playing on a 360Hz monitor, that's expected. LLM "Ultra" auto limits the FPS to around ~326 at 360Hz with G-SYNC + V-SYNC.

Thanks for you answer. And which one these settings should I use? ULL off or on ultra?

Is your GPU usage ever maxed in CS:GO? If not, LLM won't reduce latency further, and only does so when the GPU usage is 99%+.

As to why you're seeing 334 FPS when you're using fps_max to limit the framerate to 357 FPS, the in-game limiter caps somewhat approximately, so you may not always see the exact value you set in the framerate readout.

That, and make sure when you see anything below your 357 fps_max limit that it isn't because your system can't reach any higher in the given scene. I.E. setting an FPS cap only ensures the framerate can't exceed the limit, it doesn't mean your system can't drop below it.

I have a GTX 1070 and it's not maxed out (50% max). So should I just set ULL off and get the 334 fps?

I tested again and ULL on ultra feels much smoother and I have less stutters than when set to off.

Again, LLM "Ultra" with G-SYNC + V-SYNC sets an external FPS limit with the Nvidia Max Refresh Rate solution, as well as limits MPRF to "1," the latter of which will reduce latency only when the GPU usage is maxed, and should not make a notable latency difference if your GPU usage is not maxed.

The only difference between LLM "On" and LLM "Ultra" with G-SYNC enabled is that LLM "Ultra" can set an automatic FPS limit, whereas LLM "On" cannot. Both set MPRF to "1," where supported.

That said, so long as you are using a method that keeps the framerate within the refresh rate with G-SYNC, use what you prefer.

Thanks for your explanations, I really appreciate it. I will leave on Ultra since for me it gives me the best experience. I didn't use G-SYNC before since every posts I read give the advice to uncap the fps and set the highest refresh rate to have the lowest latency possible. but with a 360hz monitor and G-SYNC on, I notice no latency penalty and even my gameplay has improved.

You're welcome, and yes, the higher the refresh rate, the more equalized G-SYNC and no sync become where average latency is concerned.
