Gigabyte M32Q or G32QC ?

Hi All

I know it sounds like a weird question but please hear me out.

Background
- Upgrading from 27” to 32”
- Will be used exclusively for Sim racing
- Triple setup
- 5600x / 2080ti

Long term goal
- Get 4K OLED

I’m effectively using these monitors (32s) as a stop gap until
1. OLEDs get cheaper
2. GPU power gets better to run 3 x 4K

So I’m considering the G32QC’s purely on price ($500 cheaper where I am) but I also am concerned about the ghosting / black smearing in VAs.The only other thing it’s got going is the contrast ratio as I race in the dark.

The whole VAs theory is so confusing in that all research says they are bad but then when you ask people it’s not that much of an issue 🤷🏻‍♂️

I will be going to see these G32QCs on a sim so hopefully can ascertain if it will be an issue for me or not. All the research I have done pout to the M32Q as the best value all round monitor.

So I wanted to ask from your point of view …
- Should I go the G32QC and save the $$ for future upgrade.
- Just go straight to the M32Q and avoid the pain of a VA

Thoughts

TIA

Wouldn't recommend that VA. Smearing on G32QC is extreme (here: M32Q, G32QC). IPS contrast ratio is not as bad as u might think. It's not like VAs have infinite contrast like OLED, so blacks are still not full black, backlight is still on and visible. Smearing is something you're very likely to notice. IPS is the go-to panel right now and that makes it a bit more futureproof.

In my county M32Q is very cheap, I think it's the best 32" bang for buck right now.

May I ask from which monitors are you upgrading?

Thanks for the reply

Yeh I’ve watched HWUB videos over and over again. Also read your detailed thread on the M32Q (thanks for that :D)
I definitely understand the “future proof” part but I guess that is also my point given my end goal is 4K OLED, but I would “like” the extra vertical space of a 32” now.

I’m in Aus (Melb) and atm the M32Q is OOS :( and only a handful have it for $729. It was on special at Xmas for $519 (I got stuffed around by Amazon and missed the deal  )

I can get the C32QC for $1k (triples) so it’s a substantial savings over the M32Q as a stop gap to reach the 4K OLEDs.
I’ve currently got a mismatch of 144hz monitors
Asus *273HL ? (TN) / Asus VG279q (IPS) / BenQ XL2720 (TN)

Yes the colours are mismatched but I can’t notice the difference whilst racing. My other option is to keep what I have until the 4000 series GPUs get released and see what’s available then?

So in summary … I would “like” the extra vertical space but don’t want to spend that much now given my end goal is 4K OLED (hopefully in 32” size  )

I got it for what would be $360. It's quite expensive in your country. Why not just go with one C1 or C2 OLED than?

Yup … everything is expensive here. It’s what happens when u live on the other side of the world with a huge land mass but a small population … hahaha …. But wouldn’t trade it for anything else :P

Yeh one 16:9 isn’t enough … I like to see both mirrors and look out the window when a sharp corner is coming up. You can change the FOV to suit … but that ends up wrecking the sim cause the view isn’t “normal”.

I should look into “Track IR” though and see if one panel works with that.

But from your response the best thing to do is
- M32Q when it’s on sale
- Wait till OLED gets cheaper
