Just wanted to say thank you and congratulations. This is finally a reality and it's incredible. We just entered the post-CRT era thanks to your hard work!Chief Blur Buster wrote: ↑31 Dec 2024, 19:09[...] I released a CRT simulation shader recently at www.blurbusters.com/crt as a proof of concept.

Re: Reshade, GPU and bottleneck
The slower your GPU, the more costly a ReShade filter is.
Do we have data for CRT-Royale in the cases of the most likely cases: mid-range cards (xx60-70/ti) and APUs (SteamDeck)?
This is so far the most versatile CRT shader I tested (please chime in if there is a better alternative) and It'd ...

That’s fantastic to hear!
Another reason why we really need the upcoming 360+ hz panels then!
How about the CRT rolling scan emulation you are working on, can this be combined with frame gen?

Re: Would PureXP potentially work on OLED displays?
Strobe-based blur reduction (CRT, impulsing, flicker, BFI, strobing) doesn't require more frame rate.
Whereas strobeless blur reduction via brute framerate (framegen, interpolation, extrapolation, reprojection, more GPU, etc), but you say goodbye to the flicker! Sometimes that's worth the cost ...

Re: Would PureXP potentially work on OLED displays?
Oh true I did not think about the impact on GPU so much because I mostly use it on a 30 year old game!
Thanks a lot for debunking the settings, it’s always complicated to know what makes sense and what is placebo without data / deep knowledge.

I love passionate teachers!
Are you in contact with the devs behind Lossless Scaling? They have built such a great piece of software and expanded its functionalities far behind its original use. Maybe they would be talented enough to help implement good software BFI?

Re: Would PureXP potentially work on OLED displays?
Thanks guys.
Lossless Scaling is indeed fantastic. X4 interpolation on 60fps emulators looks superb and I wonder if we could even go x8 for 480fps silky smooth output at one point!
I have been reading posts here and there about reducing the amount of lag created by its interpolation and what seems ...

Re: Would PureXP potentially work on OLED displays?
There are low-lag methods of excellent interpolation (e.g. SmoothVideoProject + Elgato + RIFE 4.6+ interpolation that Elexor did) that actually worked pretty well for retro content, though it's a compromise.
Can you point me towards more info please? I know SVP and RIFE but I couldn’t find ...

I don’t work in this sector at all sadly but I do know a company trying to innovate in the screen (pro) market.
