Re: Smart Tv as Monitor
TVs generally don't accept 120Hz input, even if the panel supports it internally. This is starting to change perhaps. Some HDMI 2.0 TVs do accept 120Hz, but it's still rare. The 120Hz refresh is used for motion smoothing features, but you want these disabled for games because they add latency, and ...

Re: Audio vs video latency in TVs?
I tried with another computer. Different brand of graphics, different OS. Direct audio vs HDMI delta: 20-21ms. Closer to the expected 15ms for the TV. I wonder if there's a way to figure out the HDMI out delta on the computer. Another confounding factor that could exist is the relative sync between ...

Audio vs video latency in TVs?
It's occurred to me that TVs probably keep the audio in sync with the video, and measuring audio latency seems simple, so it can be used to indirectly measure the video latency.
The latency figures reported on the internet for my TV, measured with Bodnar's tester, are around 15ms (probably an ...

Thanks. Difficult to see in the video, but I don't know anyway. Better start a new thread, as a relevant thread title is more likely to draw the attention of people who know what it is.

Re: Pixel patterns that distort color on whole pixel line
This raises a few questions. How come only some panels have the problem? Why some colors cause it more severely?
There are a few others, at least for my specific monitor. Why is it not as severe in some monitor settings? Why is the color that's mixed into the affected areas green? Why does it ...

Re: Pixel patterns that distort color on whole pixel line
The above was shot on a TV. It did not happen on a closely related model with the a very similar panel type. Both are 120Hz panels, but I'm not sure they are driven as such.
Are you sure this is related to inversion? The distortion goes along the whole line, not just on the grid pattern. It happens ...

Does it matter? I suppose most, if not all, DP monitors also have DVI and maybe HDMI.

Re: Require advice for new purchase (Going Crazy :P)
If you're not in a hurry, it might be a good idea to wait for the upcoming FreeSync displays. Current news says they may be out Jan-Feb. I think this has a chance of being more forward looking than GSync. If nothing else, it might drop the GSync monitor prices.

Re: Require advice for new purchase (Going Crazy :P)
Yeah, I know the feeling. LCDs are inherently flawed, and even if you accepted their problems there's inconsistency in production so you never know what you're gonna get.
