Smart Tv as Monitor

Post by mdgonzalez » 05 Jun 2015, 09:32

Hi everyone! I'm new in this forum and i would like your opinon about this.

Im in Argentina, and the tech here is not sooooo good and i would like to buy a smart tv to use it as monitor.
What im looking for?
-Gaming/Movies
-120hz (for smooth images)
-IPS (does it worth?)
-Nice Image
-Low Input Lag

This are my candidates:
LG 47 LB6500 //IPS Low Lag 120hz, but its too bigger
Sony kdl 40w605b //No IPS, low input lag
Samsung 40H6400 //No IPS 42ms input lag

Do you recommend another one?

Thanks!

TVs generally don't accept 120Hz input, even if the panel supports it internally. This is starting to change perhaps. Some HDMI 2.0 TVs do accept 120Hz, but it's still rare. The 120Hz refresh is used for motion smoothing features, but you want these disabled for games because they add latency, and sometimes minor artifacts.

IPS has better viewing angles but worse blacks. Try to compare it in a store against VA TVs. A dark store if possible. :)

There are other things you should be worried about, like screen uniformity. This varies even between units of the same model, but some models are worse in general.
