Re: Potentially low MPRT on many 4K and 8K Samsung QLED TVs (lots of RTINGS BFI Test image comparisons)

Okay SO - I have had the QN90D for a few weeks now and really put it through its paces. Here are my thoughts, for anyone who might at all still be interested in this.

I can confirm the motion clarity using strobing is excellent. Better than anything the CX could achieve, especially as you lower ...

Re: Potentially low MPRT on many 4K and 8K Samsung QLED TVs (lots of RTINGS BFI Test image comparisons)

I think I'm probably sold on the display at this point! If they ever released the QN95D in Australia, I probably would have opted for that but alas no.

I take your point re 30fps with 60hz strobing. Personally, I find the double image effect far more distracting than standard sample-and-hold motion ...

Re: Potentially low MPRT on many 4K and 8K Samsung QLED TVs (lots of RTINGS BFI Test image comparisons)

Thanks Jim. No need to test out the 50hz BFI as I’ve been able to do that myself!

Was able to play around with the settings on the display QN90D 65” at my local tech shop, thanks to a very accommodating retail guy. I have confirmed that the TV displays 50hz content correctly, but does not flicker ...

Re: Potentially low MPRT on many 4K and 8K Samsung QLED TVs (lots of RTINGS BFI Test image comparisons)

Ive just found out my local TV dealer has a few QN90Ds still in stock, and might be making a purchase soon.
They’ve said they’re happy to let me test it out with the YouTube app, which should let me see how the BFI looks at 60Hz at least.

I had just two major remaining questions:

1) the Andrew ...

Re: Potentially low MPRT on many 4K and 8K Samsung QLED TVs (lots of RTINGS BFI Test image comparisons)

The new rtings test is very clever, allowing you to eyeball the MPRT very easily.

What’s very exciting about these displays’ particular quirk, where brightness and pulse width are interlinked, is that if we are somehow able to squeeze more peak brightness from the display, we can use that extra ...

Re: Potentially low MPRT on many 4K and 8K Samsung QLED TVs (lots of RTINGS BFI Test image comparisons)

OK here goes:

1)I haven't done Game Mode HDR Tests. I've seen the figures on RTINGS review though, but since I couldn't confirm the other contenders (QN95D and QN900D) could do 120hz BFI, and I don't like the matte coating on the 2025 models, I decided to go ahead anyway, hoping that any issue ...

Re: Potentially low MPRT on many 4K and 8K Samsung QLED TVs (lots of RTINGS BFI Test image comparisons)

Thanks for keeping us in the loop Jim, this new info is really encouraging! My CX has 15K hours on it, and randomly turns itself off every 30 minutes or so during non-video game content - so I'm very excited that there's possibly an even better display for my purposes!

Know you're very busy, but ...

Re: Potentially low MPRT on many 4K and 8K Samsung QLED TVs (lots of RTINGS BFI Test image comparisons)

Thanks for doing all this research jim

Getting that full 4:4:4 chroma at the same time as getting high motion clarity is important to my set up. Is there really no way to enable LED Motion Clear or other Motion settings while in PC mode?

A quick google search suggests that LED Motion Clear can be ...
