if your adapter and LPT port are working correctly ticking the boxes for the 9 and 17 pins should change the values of the 11 and 15 pins

the autodetect button is for detecting the LPT port settings, if you have the adapter plugged in and built correctly it should set the correct LPT port and base address automatically, you do not need the monitor connected for this to work.

if you try to run the mstar utility on a PC without a LPT port you will get that cannot install driver error.

what drivers are you talking about? I would use the oldest computer you have. check the LPT port settings in the bios(set to standard or SPP if you can) and make a note of the base address(378 probably). how exactly did you wire your device? pin 24 on my LPT port was not connected to anything and ...

under the "config" tab and the communication setting area If you hit auto detect without the monitor connected does it come back ok and set the correct base address for your lpt port?

pins 18-25 on the printer port should all be connected to ground internally so you don't need to bridge them. i think with the low voltage and current here it doesn't matter. i used 2n2222 transistors and 1k ohm resistors for my adapter

I was able to build the gadget out of spare parts and was able to flash my monitor to v2

ddc is just an i2c bus everything else is all software, I don't see any reason why it can't be done and imo has been done by other manufacturers such as Samsung. the malfunction I was talking to was about a benq provided firmware update utility somehow harming a monitor.

I don't understand why benq doesn't create a utility to flash over ddc from the video card. I guess they don't want to take the responsibility for a malfunction?
