exactly !!!

i've followed meticulously this guide using a laptop with ubuntu and vga port

after this command

sudo ./flashrom -p mstarddc_spi:dev=/dev/i2c-1:49 -c "MX25L1605A/MX25L1606E" -w firmware.bin

flashrom gave me various message like this ...

I do not know if MSTAR would release that kind of information publicly, but you can sniff i2c protocol during a flash with a bus pirate and eventually use it for a reflash of SPI on a brick

i've built the cable but didn't work in VMware i tried with different i/o settings without results so i used a very old pc with a serial port and i have successfully upgraded firmware to 2.0

i have a pci parallel card ( it's a rebranded wch.cn with drivers CH35XDRV ) on Win 7 64bit and MStar gave me the same error, but i've tried with VMware and Windows XP and suprise surprise no error so tomorrow i will make the cable and do a test of firmware upgrade.
