Re: 27" 165hz IPS 2560x1440 ViewSonic
USD1217 for the -GS version, according to TFT Central. Hope it's got fast enough pixel transitions to make the 165Hz mode non-blurry

Re: The holy grail of monitors?
My dream monitor? Probably a 21:9 40" 3D 8k 480Hz flatscreen CRT...minus the niggling little issues that affect CRT, of course.

What a strange and wonderful thing. Thanks for sharing. How does that resolution look on a 24" panel?

TestUFO, Windows 10, and Edge
Just upgraded to Windows 10. Can still successfully overclock my 2560x1440 IPS to 120Hz using ToastyX's AMD pixel clock patcher and CRU.exe
I've verified that the screen is not skipping frames, by using Refresh Rate Multitool. However, when I try to verify this using TestUFO.com and Microsoft's new ...

Re: Why aren't gamers worshipping at the altar of strobing?
I think the best solution to deal with both stutter (G-Sync) and anti-blur (ULMB) would be to have 1000 Hz monitors.
The problem with stutter is that if the GPU isn't capable of rendering a frame every 16.6ms, you will see some frames shown for 33.3ms. And if the GPU is really fast, you will see ...

Re: 4K IPS FreeSync monitor by ASUS [ROG PG27AQ]
60Hz is a refresh rate, not a frame rate
Says who? 1 hz = one X per second, it doesn't specify what X is.
While you're being pedantic, you might actually consider whether you're actually correct. You absolutely can say a 60hz game engine is one which is refreshed 60 times per second, for ...

Re: 4K IPS FreeSync monitor by ASUS [ROG PG27AQ]
yes we are just not on shitty lcds.
wouldn't really be necessary if game devs targeted a fixed fps
We do target a fixed FPS. 60hz usually. Or your monitor's refresh rate. But usually engines are frame locked to 60hz because of consoles, and even then quite often those consoles end up shipping at ...

Re: Best yet cheapest gaming monitor for 2015?
"Best yet cheapest gaming monitor" is a little like a restaurant's "finest, cheapest champagne," i.e., A contradiction in terms.
Of the models you mention I'd be inclined to go with the BenQ for the Blur Reduction functionality.
