Did it, working as described, also actually shows 1024x768 @240 on the OSD. Definitely less blurry, thats for sure.

yeah, it's less blurry and more snappier than gpu-scaling. I don't see why anyone would use gpu-scaling with benQ xl2546 / xl2546k, it takes off resources of GPU (gpu scaler) and make use of the monitors own superb scaler! In my books I would call this win-win situation. It's shame that not that many know about this. Should be common knowledge.

Sorry for the semi necro, but im going to bump this thread as i really want to try 1280x800 stretched. Thing is, i have no idea which timings i should set in CRU for 16:10 on the xl2546k. Can anyone chime in ?

I'm not 100% sure but if you have the extension block open in CRU ( link for example picture, not mine) https://i.postimg.cc/LXHRn6kv/z03.png

there should be 1280x1024 or some other 5:4 or 4:3 resolution. and copy those timings and adjust the vertical sync width according to your aspect ratio. for 4:3 it's 4 (very easy to remember)

for 4:3 modes: vsync=4
for 16:9 modes: vsync=5
for 16:10 modes: vsync=6
for 5:4 or 15:9 modes: vsync=7
for custom aspect ratio: vsync=10
What's the benefit of modifying vsync? Say if I use 4:3 with vsync=6, what will happen?

I noticed the game feeling very different by using the same resolution but with different timings. I suspect different timings can cause different level of microstutter. Some cause the display to stutter and some cause the PC to stutter. (Using DisplayPort)

Current best timing I found for 1024x768@250 is the default timing for 1024x768@60 on many monitors: H fp 24 sw 136 total 1344 V fp 3 sw 6 total 806 H- V-

Is there any other known good timings for 1024x768?

copy the timings from the extension block (1920x1080) @ 240hz or the 5:4 (1280x1024) and change vsync value to match 16:10
and test. Then you can change the scaling from monitors menu to "stretched" "fullscreen"

Hello, recently I have bought my monitor XL2546k. I have read your comment and set up CRU. Yeah display scaling is way more snappier and smoother, even my fps has increased. However, the display scaling on this monitor is so blur. I'm playing 1280x960@240. The monitor OSD shows true resolution. And of course GPU scaling is sharper but my GPU is kinda bad, gtx 1660. Any thought on that tho ?

GPU scaling is only sharper because Benq f-d up display scaling on the 2546K, on my 2540, display scaling is much sharper, like it's supposed to be

Yeah, but even 1440x1080 would be sharper if properly display scaled... it's tolerable on GPU scaling though.
