Hey, my new monitor can do 170hz.
I have set 169,831(max) in Windows and nvidia control panel, enabled G-SYNC Compatible + v-sync in nvidia control panel.
I have limited the game i want to play to 166FPS (i have read -3/-4 of max Hz is enough)
THE ISSUE: The monitor can show Refresh Rate in OSD and it jumps between 16X-170. It will show 170 (very briefly)even if i limit FPS to 140
Shouldnt this be 170 (or 169,831) Hz all the time ? Does it engange actual OG v-sync with extra input lag at 170?
I am really confused
Weird refresh rate M27Q
Re: Weird refresh rate M27Q
Here is short video, FPS is locked in RTSS at 166fps. Monitor OSD shows the fluctuating numbers

Re: Weird refresh rate M27Q
Seems to be working fine. As long as you don't see tearing you're good. OSD refresh rates are not perfectly accurate. You can even catch it at 188Hz.
Vsync locks fps to current refresh rate. Fps limiters bellow that value 'override it'. So it's actually fluctuating around 166fps. I'f you'd want it to be at 170 consistently you'd need to disable adaptive-sync and unlock the fps. In case with enabled vsync and fps > refresh rate you'd experience massive input lag.
Additionally I'd recommend to disable vsync or rtss and use only in-game limiters (assuming they're good).
