Spectre/Meltdown question (performance)

Separate area for niche lag issues including unexpected causes and/or electromagnetic interference (ECC = retransmits = lag). Interference (EMI, EMF) of all kinds (wired, wireless, external, internal, environment, bad component) can cause error-correction latencies like a bad modem connection. Troubleshooting may require university degree. Your lag issue is likely not EMI. Please read this before entering sub-forum.

Spectre/Meltdown question (performance)

Post by pcenthusiast92 » 24 Jul 2024, 19:25

Hello everyone, I was wondering if this ever happens to you, where you disable the spectre/meltdown security migitation patch, and instead of having a better framerate, input lag, good boot time, ends in the opposite?

On my current setup ryzen 5 1600 + gtx 1060 with windows 10 22h2, it is very smooth with spectre off.
But on few computers with APU or integrated gpu, seems to behaved very bad.

Does anyone know what this is due to?
Do the new versions of windows penalize users for removing patches?

Cheers.

im hear only if you use new gen cpu (release after patch) it need be enabled.
if before patch - disabled.
but i think you just need test both option and pick what you prefer.
