How much Nits is XG 270 when strobing?

As the title says

We know the XG2431 is 200 nits pure xp light.

Heard the XG270 is higher than this but not sure why

Why 290 nits:

*Perceived luminance (brightness) is logarithmic, not linear

XG270 simply has a taller pulse. XG270 pulses at ~700, XG2431 at ~500 nits. It's Blur Busters tuned, but it's the vendor (Viewsonic) who decides how strong the backlight will be.

Formulas to calculate strobe brightness on pretty much any monitor:

• pulse height = strobe brightness / duty cycle (e.g. 200 / 40% = 500)
• brightness = pulse height x duty cycle (e.g. 500 nits x 10% = 50 nits)

Finding out the duty cycle is harder on other monitors. But for Blur Busters PureXP we know:

• PureXP Light = 40% duty cycle
• PureXP Normal = 30% duty cycle
• PureXP Extreme = 20% duty cycle
• PureXP Ultra = 10% duty cycle

But now u can use beta.testufo.com/mprt to measure duty cycle/pulse width/mprt.

This is brighter than the Zowie DYAC 2 280 nits OMG

200 nit of the XG 2431 is unacceptable unless its a dark room, this monitor shouldn't have been approved by Blur Buster if Viewsonic insisted on this nonsense.

I mean I could just use my AC and close the doors and windows but sometimes when the humidity is low and breeze is strong I love to take in that warm dry caribbean breeze by opening up my entire house.

Maybe we can perhaps wait for G-SYNC Pulsar I heard there is a hidden setting to allow Pulsar to run below 100HZ

XG2431 is still better in some areas:
- faster native GtG
- better motion clarity/less crosstalk
- supports Strobe Utility (which means u can do good QFT)
- lower latency strobing
- supports 60Hz strobing

At the time Zowie was doing lower MPRT at higher brightness with XL2546K, so still stronger (>1000 nits pulse).

You can increase the backlight voltage of the XG2431 in the service menu.
If you PM Chief *politely* i'm sure he can tell you how, but you run the risk of destroying the panel, and it's not recommended unless you REALLY know what you're doing.

You probably can go about 50% more brighter and be fine, but it's still a gamble. I am not sure why the engineer set those settings, I was not responsible for testing voltages.

But he also said this, so don't take my word for it. I don't have experience with LEDs and voltages they can handle:

That is one of the few service menu settings that could void a warranty (for realz), so I'd avoid that unless you've disclaimed your rights to warranty and/or it's long expired.

I wouldn't experiment with that -- it will definitely self-protect at some point, but just like a surge suppressor, it can fail and might fry something.
