Best monitor for FPS.
Best monitor for FPS.
I'm a bit outdated now with the new technology and would like some input.
I have a ASUS VG248QE and would like to know what is the best monitor hands down for FPS gaming.
I still feel a little bit of blur while making fast movements with my current setup.
Thank you in advance!
PS. Let me know if i should be waiting for something new to come out.

Re: Best monitor for FPS.
fw900
or some other high end crt in good condition

there isn't any hands down best. they all have disadvantages and it really depends on what you're looking for and what is important for you

Re: Best monitor for FPS.
Unfortunately from lcds VG248Q is the fastest (similiar are rog swift and LG 24GM77).

Re: Best monitor for FPS.
Which FPS games do you play? And how many frames per second do you get?
If you get a constant 144 FPS, and you still feel too much motion blur, then you need tu use a backlight strobing technology. The Asus VG248QE supports Lightboost.
If you get a lower framerate (such as 60 FPS), then you can try lowering the graphic options in order to get a higher framerate. If that isn't enough, then you need more graphics power. What's your current graphics card?

Re: Best monitor for FPS.
I'm getting over 144 FPS and tried the Lightboost tweak, but I can't feel a difference using it. It just makes everything a bit darker.. I have a GTX 560 and a i7 4790.

If you dont see the benefits of lightboost then your choice is obvious - you want a gsync monitor.rootsoft wrote:I'm getting over 144 FPS and tried the Lightboost tweak, but I can't feel a difference using it. It just makes everything a bit darker.. I have a GTX 560 and a i7 4790.
You dont need to buy a new one even, i think your is the one which is moddable with gsync... if you can find the kit.
And you can freely skip the CRT recommendations too, because those are essentially perma lightboost monitors.
Re: Best monitor for FPS.
no point to gsync unless you dont like the tearing. which, for me at least, is completely invisible at those ratesrootsoft wrote:I'm getting over 144 FPS
imo it's too early to upgrade from the vg248qe to something else.
Re: Best monitor for FPS.
Wait, doesn't G-Sync behave like VSync for framerates above the refresh rate of the monitor?
Why would he need a G-Sync monitor?

Because tearing at low fps is more noticeable.Ewok wrote:Wait, doesn't G-Sync behave like VSync for framerates above the refresh rate of the monitor?
