BenQ XL2430T Problems
BenQ XL2430T Problems
Hello all,
I recently purchased the BenQ XL2430T to go along with my new PC build. I've got it connected to a GTX 970 with the DVI to DVI cable that came with the monitor.
Since getting it last Thursday I've noticed a few problems with it:
1: The panel seems to be brighter and more washed out towards the bottom. Using monitor calibration images I can see that colours become lighter as I move them down the panel.
2: There seems to be a quite apparent (to me) vertical red to green to blue transition, the top third of my screen is more red, the middle more blue/green and the bottom just washed out.
3: Using Blur Reduction 2 built in to the monitor, I'm still seeing blur in games. Even on your TestUFO page I'm getting worse blurring with BR turned on than off. Even when off I'm still seeing considerable blur.
4: I cannot for the life of me get the monitor to look anywhere near decent, it looks over-bright, reducing the brightness makes the whites look more dark grey. I've tried some ICC colour profiles from the previous models but I couldn't find one I liked.
I'm coming from using a Dell U2410 IPS monitor, however my brother has the BenQ XL2420T and I find the colours much better on his. Also the blur reduction (using your strobelight utility) is much better on the XL2420T than the built in BR2 on the XL2430T.
As I'm unhappy with the monitor I'm considering returning it tomorrow, the colour issue alone is annoying me and not being able to get it looking half-decent.
Does anyone know what could be causing any of these problems?
Cheers

Re: BenQ XL2430T Problems
Are you using 60 hz? 60 hz does double strobe, so you will see similar but slightly improved blurring, than with blur reduction off.
Try 144 hz or 120 hz.
you should NOT see ANY blurring at all. You may see artifacts/inverse ghosting but that's NOT blurring.
You should be able to turn on single strobe in the service menu to enable 60 hz strobing (on the Z monitors its holding down button #4 while powering on then releasing when leds flash)

Re: BenQ XL2430T Problems
Thanks for your input, I've tried it on both 120 and 144Hz.
I've done more testing, on TestUFO I'm getting good results in windowed mode, but as soon as I full screen I'm seeing blurring and juttering.
Any ideas why this would be?

Re: BenQ XL2430T Problems
That's a browser problem. TestUFO won't run at 120hz or 144 hz on internet explorer but it will on chrome and some versions of firefox.
Try using the test screen at 100hz refresh rate. Restart the browser before running the test.
Also try some fullscreen games.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I am already using Chrome, I have my monitor set at 120Hz and I'm seeing blurring now and then.
It has 3-4 really sharp images followed by 3-4 blurry images.

Re: BenQ XL2430T Problems
hi, I'm Phixions brother.
As was stated, I'm currently running a GTX 670 connected to a Benq 2420T @ 120hz via DVI-D cable. My OS is currently Windows 10 Tech build. I'm using the latest nVidia Drivers 344.48.
When I run the UFO test in chrome, windowed or maximized, it runs fine. Nice and clear.
Sadly when my brother runs chrome maximized, he has pretty bad stutter and blur, even though UFO test is reporting VALID*
In a Window though, it runs perfect. Nice a sharp.
I can't for the life of me work it out.
Our systems :
Mine
2500k @ 4.8ghz

evga Geforce GTX 670 2G
BenQ 2420T @ 120hz

Brothers:
Haswell-E @ 3.3ghz
16Gig @ 2400mhz
Asus Geforce 970 Strix 4G
Benq 2430T @ 144hz or 120hz

Re: BenQ XL2430T Problems
For some odd reason all is working fine now. I'm not sure why it was having trouble before!
It looks great with Blur Reduction II turned on!

Re: BenQ XL2430T Problems
Can any of you XL2430T owners confirm whether the Blur Reduction works at 60Hz as well? (i want to use it mainly for console gaming).
Re: BenQ XL2430T Problems
So I tested again today and I'm seeing stuttering again in full screen...

I've decided to return the monitor, I just can't get it to look half decent no matter what I do.
