Questions and Testing: Acer XB253Q F

Post by howdy » 24 Jan 2025, 05:56

Just got the Acer XB253Q F through amazon, although there is no information of the monitor Acer has posted. Its an 250 nits IPS panel capable of 300hz and has VRB for blur reduction.

I am limited to use the monitor thru hdmi as I own a hdmi 2.1(4k@60/1080@240hz) laptop(Msi Gf65 thin 10UE).
Windows and Nvidia Control panel maxes out at 240hz, but I can use custom resolution in Control panel to get 300hz at 1080p, but I dont understand any of the timing things or if its doing it through DSC. Explanation and configuring would be great.
Hwinfo has no clue as to what panel its using and displays as Acer [Unknown Model: ACR0EC1].
Currently using it at 240hz, but AdaptiveSync[Freesync as advertised with this model] does not work or atleast the osd refresh rate number does not change when below 240hz or 300hz

TESTED AT:
Overdrive: Normal/ Extreme has manageable brightness but has visible artifacts
AdaptiveSync: OFF(Required for VRB)
VRB: Normal/Extreme has manageable brightness
Ultra Low Latency : ON
Brightness: 80
Colour Temp: Normal(Default is Warm)
Adaptive Sync does not work with VRB and Ultra Low Latency is greyed out

VRB disabled @60hz
VRB@144hz
VRB@240hz
[TEMP]VRB@300hz

I need help with configuring it @300hz and test it with strobing. Attached below are the Custom Res defaults at 300hz
