XL2586X+ (600hz) questions
Hey, had a couple questions about this monitor regarding performance and input lag.
At a glance it said the monitor supports HDMI 2.1 and dp 1.4. Which would be better for performance and latency? HDMI 2.1 has higher bandwidth but idk if there's more to it than that.
Also, someone posted on Reddit claiming this monitor doesn't support HDMI 2.1 and downgrades to 2.0 and uses DSC? Clarification would be nice.
Lastly, is DSC on this monitor adding input lag? Would I be better just using a different non DSC monitor?
Input lag and performance is all I care about. Thanks in advance!

Zowie does seem to have conflicting informations in regards to which standard their ports are.Whosmysterious wrote: ↑11 Feb 2025, 12:05Hey, had a couple questions about this monitor regarding performance and input lag.

On their official website, the HDMI2.1 spec is mentioned
On the reddit thread you've mentioned
https://www.pccomponentes.com/monitor-b ... 0hz-dyac-2
HDMI2.0 is mentioned.
There's sadly no way to be certain which standard it uses, unless you either:
- Blindly rely on ZOWIE's words,
- Open the panel up and check what TCON board it uses
- Try software tricks which are known to interfere with DSC, such as using DSR/DLDSR or testing whether alt-tab delay is of longer duration.
In general, DSC does not add severe input lag as the one popular thread on these forums seems to claim.
I'd even go as far as to say the added input lag is very likely in the 10–200 microseconds range (this is a random guessed range)
Without any testing data to substantiate the claims, you shouldn't take anecdotes for granted.

Re: XL2586X+ (600hz) questions
I contacted zowie support and they claimed in chat (and email from another team member) that 600hz runs over hmdi 2.1, but one of them seems to think it still uses dsc.
However, I got my monitor earlier today and connected it via hdmi and then enabled 600hz... I no longer have a few second pause when alt tabbing. Could it be that this monitor actually runs 600hz without dsc? Idk. I'm confused lol.

I know the answer to my question will be no, but what happens if you go to 60hz refresh rate and enable dyac+?Whosmysterious wrote: ↑12 Feb 2025, 10:12I contacted zowie support and they claimed in chat (and email from another team member) that 600hz runs over hmdi 2.1, but one of them seems to think it still uses dsc.

Does it even enable? Or does it create a very ugly double image like the previous zowie monitors (you can see it easily on testUFO motion test page).

It does create sort of a double image. It almost looks like there's a small ufo and then a bigger ufo behind it. It's hard to explain.Falkentyne wrote: ↑13 Feb 2025, 19:10I know the answer to my question will be no, but what happens if you go to 60hz refresh rate and enable dyac+?Whosmysterious wrote: ↑12 Feb 2025, 10:12I contacted zowie support and they claimed in chat (and email from another team member) that 600hz runs over hmdi 2.1, but one of them seems to think it still uses dsc.

Re: XL2586X+ (600hz) questions
I just got the XL2586X+ today. So what I found out is both the HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4 cable use DSC at 1080p @600hz.Whosmysterious wrote: ↑12 Feb 2025, 10:12I contacted zowie support and they claimed in chat (and email from another team member) that 600hz runs over hmdi 2.1, but one of them seems to think it still uses dsc.

However, by using CRU, I am able to get 600hz on the HDMI 2.1 cable without DSC. I also changed the EDID settings on the monitor to "500hz"
Here's the steps I followed below. At Step 12 you can put in 600hz.
With this change, I no longer have that 5 second black screen delay when alt-tabbing and the DSR Factors options are now available to me in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Re: XL2586X+ (600hz) questions
That's so weird. I don't have the black screen delay when alt tabbing like I did on my asus 540hz. I'm running 600hz over hdmi 2.1 on my 4090 and there's no black screen. If I decide to use your configuration, is there any risk it can damage my monitor? Thanks for the post.witega wrote: ↑14 Feb 2025, 23:26I just got the XL2586X+ today. Are you playing DX11 games or older with Fullscreen Exclusive enabled? That's where you will see it. DX12 games don't matter.Whosmysterious wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 02:34That's so weird. Not sure about damage but if the settings don't work it won't display an image period. If I decide to use your configuration, is there any risk it can damage my monitor? Thanks for the post.

Re: XL2586X+ (600hz) questions
I play fortnite and kovaaks, which both had the long pause when alt tabbing on my 540hz asus pg248qp. Maybe they are suddently not working in exclusive fullscreen? I don't use dx12 on anything. It's disabled on fortnite for sure.witega wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 16:29Are you playing DX11 games or older with Fullscreen Exclusive enabled? That's where you will see it. Re: XL2586X+ (600hz) questions
I just got this 600hz tn display.
I don't have the alt tabbing issue. RTX 4090 TUF OC, 600hz enabled.
I am trying out dyac2 premium for the first time ever. Its very dimm even compared to my 27" 480hz oled. Is this normal? Is this how pro gamers play their matches?
