Yes, you are right. People just can't accept the fact that they are sometimes terrible at the game. I've tried everything in the book. Come on. I tried five different houses, multiple setups, EVERYTHING, and the only thing it made me realize is that I was wasting too much time on this and that maybe it's all in my head. (Note that I am level 10 also.) Now I just play on the most default settings possible because I know it's all mental.

My Favorite one: "IF YOU A SILVER THEN YOU CAN EASY GET OUT OF SILVER AND JUST BY AIM" THE PROBLEM ARE JUST YOU AND YOUR SKILL !!!"

"You Already Watched Woohoojin Tutorial to Gold ???"

I hit Diamond when just started and find about Valorant (it was already out of beta) but this FUN was not for very long and after until i noticed that things goes really bad down again and like in all my other online shooter experiences here it already happened (Black Squad on Steam) before (after some time) and exact same random unplayable PATTERN started Match after Match...Very Funny
Coincidence.

But Hey ! I must be probably become just low SKILL brain after hit DIAMOND and then turn fast PLAT to GOLD and after stuck in Silver in just 1 Week and over the Weekends and all the bad known random DESYNC and HITREG and UNSTABILITY and loses after loses kicked back in AGAIN.

Dayum...Look how I improved very fast over Time and till Today after many Thousands Hours of different Shooter Experiences...

briefly about this.
If you are paranoid, you feel like someone is watching you.
If you are not paranoid, this does not mean that you are not being watched.
BumFlannel wrote: The problem is, if there are no tools available to test or the data is misrepresented then there is not much you can do about it. All you have is feel. And when your game is micro stuttering, you can VISUALLY see it micro stuttering and your mouse inputs are like dragging your mouse through treacle then you are not experiencing placebo and you are not misinterpreting, you can visually see it and physically feel it. The only people that can't see it are the people you tell about it on the internet and you cant show it in a video.
BumFlannel wrote: Blind tests are irrelevant here because nobody knows the cause, therefore nobody can design a test, therefore nobody can ever claim placebo.
There are tools for testing/diagnostics, and you can record these results on video. The problem is that it is too difficult for a beginner. And there is no methodology from A to Z on how to do it. But people are looking for a simple solution. And they are not prepared to follow the guidelines offered to them in order to diagnose their problem.
BumFlannel wrote: You can test it and see that there is actually no latency to your inputs but you can feel that there is absolutely something wrong with how what's on screen is responding to your inputs. It is inconsistency in processing of inputs over time. The input responds in the time you expect it to and your input stops at the time you expect it to, but the distance travelled for each interval between those 2 points is inconsistent. I don't know what the cause is, but this is actually testable. If you can record at a high frame rate (I mean it will work at 60fps, but the higher the framerate the better), when you feel your mouse input is "wrong" then record your gameplay and go through frame by frame. You need to make sure you have stable frame times because that also causes the same issue, so you need to fix frame time issues first if you have them. I guarantee, when your mouse is feeling like shit you will see smaller and larger distances travelled for each frame of the input. Small inconsistencies build up over the movement and by the end of it your mouse has travelled less or more than you expected, so you have to recorrect your aim. It creates that swinging of the mouse which makes it feel "floaty" and it makes it really hard to track targets.
windows performance toolkit xperf \ The diagrams will show everything you are talking about.
I often do not clearly state my thoughts. google translate is far from perfect. And in addition to the translator, I myself am mistaken. Do not take me seriously.

@BumFlannel
First I appreciate the discussion. I think we reached a point where it feels pointless to argue about what we are currently, better to just agree on disagreeing. You say that it's not placebo due to not having any sign that something changed. I reply why this isn't true, that just because you suddenly feel something off you could still be having a wrong perception about it, and you reply repeating yourself, that it is not placebo because it happened suddenly without warning, and that with floaty mouse it is different because it's something physical and 10000% felt and years of experience, and my answer will be the same. It became a yes VS no without new ideas.
I believed the same thing as you and lots of these things do make sense (hell, even flat earth theories make sense, doesn't mean that they are true). But then, if you are sure that your problem is real:
Playing a game or swiping your mouse left/right isn't any kind of measurement, but if someone wanna rely just on their own judgement and on that to confirm that they have any kind of issue, that's on them.
Do you know of any video showcasing desync, showing that the shots are hitting the enemy but not registering or dealing damage at all? If you do, link it here, would be helpful.
To the other similar replies on the post, provide something that can show the problem in action.
I won't be replying to every similar message because this would be my response to most of them.
Also I'm not saying that every single case is placebo, I can't possibly know that. If you're sure that your problem is real, well, do what you gotta do to fix it.
I have no interest in proving everyone wrong. I think it's not real, you are sure that it is. For you, just having years of experience is enough to guarantee that the issue is real if you feel something off, for me it's not, and I think it's an easy way to deceive yourself. I fixed all these issues just by noticing they weren't real. I don't feel anything off anymore, but I don't use that as an argument, it's still just my word after all.

Though one thing that might be interesting to talk about is how you mentioned that this issue can't be measured (which I also believed for a long time, mainly because I refused to look at it otherwise, but I also described it as "input lag... but not quite input lag, there's something extra going on... if it was just input lag it would be easier to diagnose or deal with..."). First it is weird that something is at the same time, 10000% felt, but 0% seen, but let's ignore that for now, not that big of a deal.
What is the issue even? Floaty mouse = input lag, unprecise movement, cursor doesn't land where it should as if the DPI was changing, becoming fast/slower at all will. Ok.
  • Input lag/Delay = taking more milisseconds between input and what you see on your screen than it should. This is measurable, and you can do a simple test with human benchmark if you don't have a 1000fps camera (you can do it with a 240fps one too, which most phones with slowmo have, just less precise than 1000).
  • Sensitivity/DPI becoming faster/slower randomly: You can do a mouse accel test. I explain how to do it on the post but there are videos for it too, very easy to do. If it lands where it should, then I can't see how it could still be changing speeds yet landing exactly where it started. You can use mouse softwares to check for that too.
  • Unprecise/Choppy movements: Mouse acceleration test will also give you an answer to that. If it lands exactly where it should, then I don't think this matters at all. Even if it was actually chopping, your aim still is landing where it should, thus not affecting it. Unless your mouse is actually not landing where it should then I'm not sure what would this test achieve since it's something so small that needs such precise testing to be able to notice. But, if it is making your mouse not go where it should, you can test it with MouseTester or a high fps camera + stable FPS like you said.
So it IS measurable. But as I said, if someone is so strongly convinced about something, then it doesn't matter the amount of evidence they get, the decision to believe that they have an issue or not is totally on them.

The Guy who came for Proofs Axaxaxaxa...

phpBB [video]

You still want some Proofs ?

The "Proof" where are you not "Potato" are made on smurf account ? and against the lower Ranks that are Hardstuck with everything bad happening with electricity or was it just lucky random Matchmaking in the early morning where you had all the easy Advantage and very slow predictable MOVING low elo ENEMIES with no Reaction Time against your VERY FAAAST SHROUD PRO "SKILL" and nice stable Hitreg connect" ???

Pls link this exact one Deathmatch on your Pro Radiant Valorant Tracker....Aaxaxaxa. I want see it so Haaaaaaaard and what kind of Matchmaking this was...

Now your turn to bring some "Proofs"...Mr.Placebo.

Btw. You are still Radiant after all the Resets =? Still improving stable the same with all the Placebos and going up the Rank ladder like a FULL PRO against the others FULL PRO ?

It might not even be things like mouse inputs inconsistency itself or click to photon latency, but more like inconsistency in how game mechanics work.
Let's say something happens in game that throws off your aim and you perceive it as lag, in the view of technical test that is supposed to measure latency it is not lag, but you still can tell something is off. Just like when you start to move your mouse and round suddenly ends, you get that feel like something stopped your movement. What if it happened on smaller scale or simply some game mechanics are not working exactly as it supposed to, maybe even smoothly but not in consistent way?

There is one test that could tell for sure something is going on or not (of course if issue is present all the time and its possible to reproduce it on demand).

In that scenario I assume environment has impact on PC. You know that there is at least some people somewhere who do not have any issues like that. You exclude human factor in this test.
Requires:
- >= 1000fps cam
- some input automation like arduino or if you like fancy stuff, arm moving the mouse
- Repeatable scenario in game, either offline or online (if you can have same ping in both places)

1. While PC in environment without any issues record scenario x times (the higher number the better).
2. Take PC to other place with suspected issue and record same scenario x times
3. Now convert recordings to images. It gives you tons of frames at 1000fps
4. Calculate average deviation between consecutive frames for point 1.
5. Calculate average deviation between consecutive frames for point 2.
6. Now compare result for 4 and 5. If average deviation is higher or lower then something is wrong (might be affected a lot by low repeats) - as there is nothing else there on internet to compare to.

Of course no one will do that, but waste their time blabbing.

In case of suspecting hardware/software/game itself being bad you would need a lot more data to account for hardware manufacturing deviations to compare two PCs with same hardware in same environment.

Looks like someone had huge unstable Skill Issues Time or maybe it was just Placebo Matches ???

The Nice easy Hitreg.exe Tourney ended ? No more easy Kills Matchmakings coming ? Got some Stuck and now Tryharding to hit the Target at your ELO ? Maybe you need Help ? I can Teach you to get the good SKILL again... :(

My Favorite Video and the Start of it: ( created 1 month ago)
phpBB [video]

"I'm Fps Player and reached much High Rank (one day eehh some day eeh last year) and have more Shooter Experience than you in your Life"...

So let me speak from "low bottom fragger" of my Heart and Teach you SKILL and Placebo and how my Heavy Mouse Moving and Explain you my Skill Issue....Watch !

"I coached 500 Valorant Player who still stuck in Gold and even improved to Silver"

"Everything started when I got new PC 4 years ago and went from 30fps to 400fps"

"After i almost believe that it Placebo but Today im sure it is"

"Pls show me now exact Proofs of Desync and where Hitreg don't registered..."

Dayum Dude.

Sry that I make some FUN of you but you triggered me so hard with all your Placebo talk and "SHOW PROOFS" comment. But after i check your Valorant Tracker and the Last Clips on your Youtube...I completely now understand what kind of Placebo you "Suffer" and all your "Talk" and quick "Opinion" change on Issue and what you really "Want" achieve with that all...

@giggio10
"I fixed all these issues just by noticing they weren't real. I don't feel anything off anymore, but I don't use that as an argument, it's still just my word after all."

So how is the living Today without "Placebos" and with an Opinion that "These issues weren't real" :?:

I want so hard to be fixed same like you...

Edit:

Now the "Big Shock" and "Reveal" and "Coming out":

Believe it or Not but i suffer exact the same but just some Rank much lower and maybe more frequently in my Shooters here and maybe twice harder and more during Day and 24/7 and which are "FOR SURE" the real Reason that I can't get up to some fucking Gold or just Platinum Rank that EZZZZ like some others...

AND THIS ALL NOT PLACEBO MY FRIEND...THIS REALTALK....THIS REALITY.

You now get the Difference and Understand and Realized something ? I really hope that your are and will now think differently and what you think and believed to be "just placebo" and about "skill" all your years and your "PRO" experienced player life was a just LIE...and never ever about real skill or game sense and never true balanced fairplay conditions. :(

Okay Now you passed the Test to join the Input Lag Community Comrade. Enjoy your stay and the search for an FIX on this "Skill Issue".

Or maybe not...whatever you want and wish to do after this Knowledge. ;)

Damn, hope that you didn't actually buy different houses or PCs... I know how it is when you really wanna fix something, I've too had my random spikes of motivation to try my best to fix it and just ended up wasting quite some time and money

Most people I've seen complaining about this are quite decent at games. I noticed it the first time on the desktop of my new PC so I think that for the majority it's more a matter of ignorance than actually coping for not hitting shots... Ignoring actual tests to make sure the problem exists before doing drastic things, buying new PCs just based on your own feel with the mouse (susceptible to placebo). I did believe it was a thing and I could swear I felt the floatiness/delay happening in real time, nothing could get this out of my head because it felt real, even more when I had some "fixes", where you feel the difference instantly. This just reinforced the idea that the issue was real, and it's very hard to convince yourself out of it after that (if that's the case with anyone reading, a good one to defeat this idea is thinking about the amount of times these fixes happened to you and how they always either stop working misteriously or never fully fix the problem, and how this lines up with placebo).

I totally agree with you that people need to stop wasting so much of their energy on this. People do crazy stuff, stuff that others have already tried before them and failed, but we ignore this because "maybe his issue is different than mines".
My first video/post about the issue, while I still believed the issue to be real, was actually a callout for newcomers to take it easy, to not go on money spending sprees buying houses and PCs to fix their problem. Go to your nearest gaming cafe, it's usually very cheap. If it's good, enjoy playing there for a few weeks. If it's bad or gets worse over the days, that should make you rethink a bit (and hopefully start measuring things instead of going just by mouse feel).
