Regarding first response time vs total response time?

Post by GFresha » 04 Sep 2024, 18:18

Hello,

I was looking at the response times@ max refresh rate for the pg248qp and in rtings it says first reponse time 1.7 ms and total response time is 2.7 ms in the normal overdrive setting when I compare this to the monitor's extreme OD setting the first response time in extreme is 1.1 ms and total response time is 5.8 ms.

So we see extreme mode has lower first response time than normal mode yet high total response time vs normal mode

So does this mean extreme is better since it has lower response time or is normal better since it has lower total response time?

When I test it in game, the extreme mode looks insanely smooth so I would assume first response time is king when it comes to overdrive settings/competitive advantage or am I off?

Thanks!

Hi, I have PG248QP.

It's been a few months since I bought it and I think I've found the perfect settings for color and response time.

My OD settings are fine. The difference in average response time between Esport is 0.2 ms. Which is not serious. But you get a picture without artifacts and the average response is better. If it works, I'll attach a link and a picture where there is research.

We turn off ULBM2. It gives a delay and makes your eyes less tired. It's not a necessary thing, at 500 Hz the picture is smooth anyway.

I set GAMEVISUAL to landscape or RTS. I make some minor adjustments there. Settings in NVIDIA +.

I play CS2 - it registers perfectly and the picture is the same.
