Unsmooth gameplay

Post by ShadowLord20 » 02 Mar 2025, 18:30

Hi there,

I’ve got an AMD Ryzen 7 5800x and a RTX 3070Ti, running at 1440p, 165hz. I’ve copied all of the settings above but my game feels much smoother in terms of motion when I play in windowed compared to when I play exclusive full screen, still running at the same resolution of 1440p

Am I doing something wrong here or is it simply because it’s windowed.

The game/settings is on low settings, Marvel Rivals but this is common in other games too regardless of the settings

I believe it is an issue with the frametime but I’m not sure how I can keep it more consistent as I already limit it to something I'm hitting consistently but not working.

Monitor is a MSI G32CQ4R, running with freesync in monitor settings, running fixed refresh over gsync in nvidia control panel currently and it seems to work better but still getting stutters/unsmooth gameplay.

Any advice?

Hi there,

Any ideas what could cause this?

Borderless windowed mode is usually better on latest Windows 11 24H2. Exclusive fullscreen is kind of there for legacy games that can't run well (or at all) in windowed mode.

Issue solved!

Turns out it was a faulty/uncertified DP cable that was causing the issue, hope this helps anyone else facing the same issue.

oh, does the DP cable often cause errors?
