Hi there,
In this case I am talking about CS2. I've had this issue for a long time, with multiple GPUs being tested/affected.
When I strafe (walk left and right) I can see that there is an issue with the corners of walls, doorways, you name it. It feels like the texture is lagging behind. It's kinda hard to see but it is quite noticable and annoying.
I want you to concentrate on the right edge of this door beam/jamb (or whatever it's called).

It kinda looks like an Anti Aliasing or maybe Ghosting issue, but not quite. I set "Multisampling Anti-Aliasing Mode" to 8X MSAA and "Texture Filtering Mode" to Anisotropic 16X, with no difference.
Am I able to get rid of this somehow?
Current Build
Monitor: ASUS VG279QM, Overclocking OFF, Overdrive 0, ELMB Sync OFF, 240 HZ
GPU: AMD Radeon 6700XT
Cable: Display Port (not a very cheap one)
Thank you.
Jagged borders when moving
Re: Jagged borders when moving
Change the overdrive setting in your monitor and see if that affects it. Could be overdrive overshoot.
Unless you mean the tearing, which is very visible in vertical lines, like edges of doors. For that, you need to enable vsync or fast sync. Or use VRR and cap your FPS.

Re: Jagged borders when moving
Overdrive overshooting happens when Overdrive is on, correct? For me it's off, as mentioned under "Current Build".
I'm not sure if it's tearing or not. Wouldn't that happen on the whole screen and with low FPS? I have 240HZ and 240 FPS.

RTINGs recommends overdrive 80, else you get more notable ghosting on that monitor:

Overdrive 0:

Overdrive 80:

May or may not be contributing to what you're seeing.
There'd typically be a single tearline in that scenario.
If it's not tearing, overdrive artifacts, or an in-game post processing effect, it could be the stroboscopic effect (which is expected and happens on all displays to a degree):

Re: Jagged borders when moving
Thanks for the tip of Overdrive 80!
Also, I think you nailed it with the Stroboscopic Effect, this might be the exact problem I have.
Quick research shows that there are not that many possibilties to "fix" it though, which is a shame.

Re: Jagged borders when moving
With 240FPS+@240Hz there's not gonna be much stroboscopic effect when strafing. You need to pan the mouse pretty fast to get that at 240Hz

Re: Jagged borders when moving
Hm not sure if this is a good or bad thing for me.
I've just tried turning on VSYNC ingame and it looks like it helps with his effect massively. I refuse to play with VSYNC on though... I usually like to disable any "enhancements" because gameplay often feels better that way.
Is VRR or some kind of Sync my only solution then? I don't remember having this issue on my old PC with some ViewSonic 144hz monitor that was recommended here somewhere.
Re: Jagged borders when moving
VRR is the only solution. But you need to use `fps_max 210` to avoid vsync lag. You can try `fps_max 234` with vsync OFF though and see if that works well.xShino wrote: ↑14 Mar 2025, 04:27I've just tried turning on VSYNC ingame and it looks like it helps with his effect massively. Basically reading the "GSYNC 101" Blur Busters articles is recommended to see how to use VRR without input lag.
