Some things that might be of help

Everything about latency. This section is mainly user/consumer discussion. (Peer-reviewed scientific discussion should go in Laboratory section). Tips, mouse lag, display lag, game engine lag, network lag, whole input lag chain, VSYNC OFF vs VSYNC ON, and more! Input Lag Articles on Blur Busters.

Some things that might be of help

Post by Hyote » 30 Mar 2025, 13:12

I decided to make an ISO based on the latest version of Windows 10 and I had to do a few things to make it work. Some of these feel like they contribute to solving the input lag problem so I'm going to share them.

1. I updated my BIOS and I don't know if that causes Intel Serial IO I2C Host Controller to be active or the latest Windows 10, but I never had this before on a fresh install. The difference seems to be positive and disabling it starts ruining consistent mouse movement, otherwise I did all of my tweaks.

2. I changed the Command Rate of my RAM from 2T to 1T. I previously experimented with this but I had desync issues, but now I manually set the timings and there is a pretty big improvement in latency over 2T without much performance loss.

3. In SCEWIN I tried 3 settings
PEP SPI - Disabled
PEP XHCI - Disabled
PEP Audio - Disabled
These feel better when disabled but I doubt they contribute much to anything.

The settings in the post still provide some benefits, so I'll keep using the latest versions of Windows and always update my BIOS.
They don't fix the floatiness that creeps up over time but they make things a little bit better.
I've always used Process Lasso because without it, everything feels much worse (I stop the program after applying my config)
Here are my settings with a 10 core CPU:

smss idle, CPU 7, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
Registry idle, CPU 5, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority lowest
2x csrss realtime, CPU 3, IO Priority high, Memory Priority normal
wininit realtime, CPU 6, IO Priority normal, Memory Priority normal
svchost AudioEndpointBuilder idle, CPU 8, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
svchost Audiosrv idle, CPU 8, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
audiodg idle, CPU 9, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
svchost DCOM idle, CPU 6, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
svchost RPCSS idle, CPU 7, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
svchost ProfSvc idle, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
svchost CoreMessagingRegistrar idle, CPU 7, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
svchost nsi, idle, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
svchost StateRepoository idle, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
lsass idle, CPU 4, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority lowest
2x fontdrvhost idle, CPU 9, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
winlogon idle, CPU 6, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
dwm idle, IO Priority very low, Memory Priority very low
