Hi all.
Registered just to ask this...
I just got an Asus BE248CFN (upgraded from an Asus PA248QV).
Running it off an RTX 4070 FE, with DP (1.4?) at 100 Hz (max supported by the display).
I'm getting some very subtle "rippling" of the image, whether it's a moving or static image.
By rippling, I mean if you look close, it's like there's a "flow" of water going through the image, and it's very subtle. The image is more than usable, but less than ideal. There's also a subtle graininess to it, which I think is related.
I tried changing out the DP cable, from the one I had before, to the one that comes with the display. It didn't solve anything.
I had no issues with any rippling with the prior PA248QV display (running at 75 Hz and the same/initial cable, and same GPU and DP port).
I tried running the display at identical settings except at lower refresh rates (75 Hz and 60 Hz) and the issue goes away. In other words, it only shows up at 100Hz.
- Is this some sort of problem with interference at higher refresh rates? Or is that not really a thing with a digital signal?
- Is it a defective monitor? How best to assess if it is or not?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: very subtle "rippling" and "graininess" on new display (DP, 100 Hz)
It's not normal. I don't know if the display is damaged or just crappy where Asus has used a panel that actually can't handle 100Hz but decided to sell it anyway.

Re: very subtle "rippling" and "graininess" on new display (DP, 100 Hz)
So I got another unit. Hooked it up. Exact same problem.
Let me describe the issue a bit more here...
What I mean by ripples is: imagine you have thin, densely packed together horizontal "shadowy" lines, going the width of the screen. And they seem to be moving downwards together.
Again, this problem is only present at 100 Hz. You can only really see them when certain things are being displayed (for example, solid white displays just fine, but solid purple or flashy green tends to show it well).
It's almost like I'm staring at a CRT with a slightly bad signal. It's very hard to explain, and it's not something I can capture easily with a camera.
Any ideas here? I'd love to dig deeper into this and even fix it if it's possible. What about the CRU thing I've heard about? Really hoping this isn't just a bad panel model choice or something unfixable.

Probably going to return the monitor at this point. *shrug*

Sounds like flawed panel design maybe.
If you're already getting dealbreaker oddities instantly with just starting to use it, I would return it if no monitor settings or adjustments make the issue go away.

Yup. Definitely seems to be a design flaw. Or they cut too many corners.
I sent both units back. What a waste of time.
