anything i haven't tried ?

Post by krash » 16 Apr 2025, 08:51

Long story short, I’ve fixed my input lag, but now I’m dealing with something worse "desync/backtrack". My friends can shoot enemies that are already gone on my screen or not on my screen *not a common occurrence*. I don’t really feel like recording or uploading clips of it happening ˡᵃᶻʸ, but I’m down to test any "magical" regedit or tweak that might help as long as it’s not just a bunch of unrelated stuff thrown together.

15 ms
my friends are 30 - 40 ms
avg ping on the server is 50 not rare to find 10ish range players

game: cs2

things i tried

-any netsh edits like
Enable/Disable RSS *stayed on enable*
global autotuninglevel=disable/normal*slightly favouring normal*

-tried changing bcdedit *some complained about hitreg getting worse on a setting that i found my hits were more accurate maybe people were bad at spraying*

-gpedit.msc stuff
QoS Packet Scheduler set timer resolution to 0 *made people way faster than usual some peeks i don't see the players*

-nic stuff
realtek drivers from my motherboard
realtek drivers with netadaptercx *motherboard one was causing me less jitters*

-msi util v3
unticking my realtek & gpu *kept both on, keeping one on/off was a little odd*

-disabled UPnP

-dscp 46 bla bla bla

the only thing that made my game somewhat decent is using 1 tick buffer from cs settings *try this and give feedback maybe?*

anything that could stabilize or fix jitters just write it i guess

i tried many different network cards. but the best for me is TP-Link UE300 USB dongle. I literally can hold angles now. But let windows install the drivers and disable any energy saving features

laptop btw ideapad 15ach6 horrible performance but i managed to stabilize it and whatever i did to fix my input lag was done by a friend of mine on his pc and he also dosen't complain about input lag idk about desync he's ok on that maybe or can't notice on his 75hz monitor i use a 165hz monitor

Greetings, could you list out your HW components and your networking hardware?
It is unclear to me on which hardware configuration you're experiencing these issues.
Are you on FTTH or coax?
Hardware:

Laptop Model: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3050 (Laptop GPU)

RAM: 32 GB DDR4

Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD

OS: W11 24H2

Networking Hardware:

Modem: ISP-provided - STC

Router: ISP-provided - STC

Connection Type to PC: Wired (Ethernet) what ethernet cable i would need to ask my grandpa's grave it's old & unbranded, but only recently i started having issues

Internet Type:

I'm on FTTH

Thank you for providing more information.
Have you done any hardware config, peripherals or software change (BIOS, drivers) recently?
Have you noticed any kind of external interference sources appearing (a mobile tower, radar & similar)
Have you started experiencing this with some recent CS2 patch?
How are your HW's temperatures?

I got a few recommendations which you may try and experiment with:
1.) Try Windows 11 23H2 or W10 22H2
I assume you play Faceit, so you'd have to opt for that W10 release instead of the better older version of W10
It might be a Windows-related issue instead.
2.) Don't install chipset drivers.
Install W10 NIC drivers & GPU drivers (551.23, 566.36 have been reported as “fine”, though this may be not true in practice)
Always use MSI mode, when possible.
3.) In general, a SSD upgrade may help overall performance, since laptops usually come with lowest tier SSD's
4.) Don't swap out your RAM kit, if it's the one that came with your laptop.
RAM compatibility on laptops is a nuisance & a big source of almost all issues related to PCs (yes, even desync)

Changing out router hardware & opting for shielded CAT6/CAT8 cables (e.g. Startech) may help, but I think it might be misconfigured software instead (e.g.: bad CS2 patch and/or network driver + windows version sheningans)

A disclaimer: I haven't personally played CS2 that much since it's release, so I cannot tell you whether something may have occurred and whether there are in-game settings which you may change.

This also completely disregards the human physiological & psychological aspects to this topic, which may be the culprit to some extent.

-software changes: Yes *different process lasso configurations*

-peripheral changes: i only switch between 2 mice now n then ( op1 8k, ulx ) * i don't think the problem is from me changing those ? *

-external interference: i don't think so

-if it's due a cs2 patch i don't know since it's fine with my friend we usually comment after any update on how the game feels

-hw temperatures 60 - 70 C while playing

-testing w10 i never knew theres a verison that supports faceit ill check this one
testing 23h2

-will test the drivers
currently trying 551.23 possibly fixed ? giving this a week and ill talk more about it i guess
was deathmatching before and after changing drivers

-i'm going to be moving to a pc soon so i don't think id upgrade anything anymore

-yes i've upgraded my rams but the laptop doesn't even support xmp so timings are capped at the same thing ?
*i don't know if i faced the problem's after changing or not but i think i had normal clips even after upgrading*

-upgrading cables will be a lil too much if i upgrade mine i have to also work on the other cables in the house i might do it

-physiological & psychological fine/not fine

btw my hitreg is fine it's just the player model is backtracking or randomly speeding up

Yeah the magic player models. If someone discovered how to RELIABLY move them into your favour (im affraid even cheaters forum wont help there much as even cheaters didnt find the way how to make the models to slow down to your favour and show up them faster?)... Because all the issues with desync and backtrack is still the same problem, some computers show you other players too late, while they have the information way earlier but wont tell it to you lol... And all the shenanigans are nothing more than doing random things and hoping it will change something in this aspect just by butterfly effect or byproduct.
Its only a little better than a definition of insanity, but not too much. Thats the whole blurbusters inputlag section in a nutshell.

But i really cant say i had a good experience with the tplink UE300 usb sh..t, i had it and it caused absurd 1000ms+ lags randomly. Others reported this issue too.

I don’t see any harm in testing things that’s why I posted this. I’ve seen a lot of people complain about certain modifications, but some actually improved how my system and my friend’s system ran so i'm looking for more i guess.

what I have isn’t nearly as bad as some people here make it out to be. still, it’d be nice to reduce it a bit, kind of like how people tweak their setups to reduce jitter, fps drops, anything modifiable.

You should avoid using ProcessLasso, it's function is redundant for most users (especially this use-case).
Yes, FaceIt forces newer versions of Windows for “security purposes”. Otherwise, everyone would be on W7 or earlier W10 versions such as 1703–1909.

Disabling IGPU and switching do dGPU only (if your laptop supports Advanced Optimus) would also be desirable, though they don't implement that on laptops often.

Just in case, could you take a ZenTimings screenshot and post it here? RAM instabilities can severely impact your entire computing experience.
As the user above has mentioned, getting a external USB-based NIC might be beneficial as a test.
Realtek is the only vendor which makes USB network adapters, as far as I'm aware.
In particular:
RTL8159 — 10GbE
RTL8157 — 5GbE
RTL8156 / RTL8156B — 2.5GbE
RTL8153 / RTL8153B / RTL8153C / RTL8153D / RTL8153E — 1GbE

ASIX has a older 1GbE model, such as the AX88179_178A

Keep in mind, most people have not checked how any of these adapters perform in practice (DPC/ISR performance, networking performance, overall latency,...)
There's also the factor of server variance (how good the HW & SW setup is) + how good your ISP's routing to a specific server is, so it's somewhat difficult to evaluate this properly without trying out different hardware configurations.
