USB DAC vs 3.5mm
USB DAC vs 3.5mm
A couple of months ago I made a post regarding my headset(Logitech G Pro X) & Yesterday I happened to to use the USB dac that came with the headset & I've noticed immediately that my mouse/controller input feels way better. My audio is also much clearer & louder using the USB than plugging directly into my motherboard. Does anyone know if using onboard audio can cause latency issues? Tested with & without audio drivers. USB just feels so much better to play on. I've always thought plugging the headset directly into the motherboard would result in less latency so I never tried the USB.

The opposite is the case, as per: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=14331Arrogant wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025, 00:55A couple of months ago I made a post regarding my headset(Logitech G Pro X) & Yesterday I happened to to use the USB dac that came with the headset & I've noticed immediately that my mouse/controller input feels way better. It does give you less latency if you plug directly to the mobo, but only for the actual sound.Arrogant wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025, 00:55A couple of months ago I made a post regarding my headset(Logitech G Pro X) & Yesterday I happened to to use the USB dac that came with the headset & I've noticed immediately that my mouse/controller input feels way better. DAC gives less latency if whatever application supports the ASIO audio driver (not many). By application I mean program not games, I don't think there's any game that supports ASIO.
Re: USB DAC vs 3.5mm
I found that it wasn't worth it to use a USB DAC as the latency on the audio cues caused me to have delayed reactions.

Re: USB DAC vs 3.5mm
Your motherboard audio is technically a DAC. Maybe there's something wrong with the drivers for the motherboard audio, or maybe the Logitech G Pro X has better drivers. Sometimes certain combos of hardware and software just don't work right together. If the headset works better through USB, I'd keep using it like that.
