Re: Longstanding Floaty Aim Feel Issue Fixed with a Fiber Optic DisplayPort Cable...
I got the geo.h hdmi 2.1 hybrid fibre optic cable from Amazon. Seems to work well, fast, consistent, no issues here.
But I cannot tell if it it improved latency from the normal copper hdmi 2.1 certified cable i was using prior. I don't really feel a difference?
Next I am going to order and try the dp 2.1 fibre optic hybrid cable.

Re: Longstanding Floaty Aim Feel Issue Fixed with a Fiber Optic DisplayPort Cable...
Ok so i have been using the fibre optic hdmi 2.1 cable and fibre optic dp 2.1 cable (same brand) for a few days now, comparing the two on my zowie 600hz tn monitor. This zowie monitor has a hdmi 2.1 port, and only dp 1.4 port. I think it uses dsc on both ports for 1080p 600hz. Anyways below is my comparison:
- Both cables feel very snappy and fast in terms of input lag. But i feel the dp 2.1 cable has a very slightly faster feeling and more consistency with the input response. The hdmi 2.1 cable, is very close, but for some reason I think the dp 2.1 cable just edges out.
- I think the hdmi 2.1 cable makes the image on screen look slightly better, for some reason it seems slightly sharper than the dp 1.4 cable.
Overall, I am keeping the dp 1.4 version, because I want the most competitive edge, I don't care about image quality. Now my above findings, could purely be placebo, but I am very very sensitive to response, and lag. I can feel every inch of it. So this is how I feel about these 2 cables.

I went back to a standard hdmi 2.1 cable.

Yes, all adjustments will have a positive effect, but it won't last for a few days and eventually the delay will come back.

just bought one. i'm currently using fiber ethernet wire, now we're moving to fiber DP cables xD let's slowly start turning our PCs into light tech and eradicate electrical issues once and for all over time huh?

I appreciate your knowledgable and critically-analytical comments btw. i had a question for you, do you think this cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FRMYY8PZ?th ... s_li_ss_tlkyube wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025, 18:44The rest is in fact important... lol
If his assumption was that the DisplayPort cable was a EMI source, then he doesn't eliminate it fully with these hybrid-optical fiber cables. He only dampens the effect, but there's still copper in those cables.
If his assumption was that the DisplayPort cable allows for conducted interference to enter his display, then it's not eliminated with these hybrid-optical fiber cables.
Anything past 3200 1T (3600MHz 2T) on Skylake gen (6th–11th) Intel CPUs is (very likely) unstable.
Anything past 6000-6400MHz 1T on Alder-Lake gen (12–14th) Intel CPUs is (very likely) unstable.
These are rough numerical values which have been obtained from running various stress tests for extended periods.
To skip testing all of this testing, opt for QVL of mobo vendor (and hope they've done a good job testing the kits) or run EXPO/XMP disabled. Very simple setup.
being listed as fully fiber optic ends up being the fully fiber optic cable that doesnt include copper? (non-hybrid, just full)

The data transmission part should be completely made out of optical fibers.jeffeh12133 wrote: ↑04 Jan 2026, 03:38I appreciate your knowledgable and critically-analytical comments btw. i had a question for you, do you think this cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FRMYY8PZ?th ... s_li_ss_tl

There is required USB power part, but the interconnect between the GPU & display is completely galvanically isolated.
Theoretically, it is the lowest EMI solution available AFAIK.
See these videos to check how they work:
Disclaimer: I don't know on the longevity of these cables, anecdotal information on them is scarce.
