16:9 monitor lacks lower 16:9 resolutions at same Hz

Post by mraciek » 05 May 2026, 13:47

Hello, I'm currently using Aoc Q27G3XMN with gtx 1050ti, I'm having it pretty close to me for content/reading, however I have a preference to run games at lower res with no scaling/black bars for both better performance and comfort when gaming. Unfortunately the resolutions capable of running max hz(180) are as follows:
2560x1440
1920x1440
1920x1200
1600x1200
despite having checked the "no scaling" "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs" and "Perform scaling on: Display" options, when creating a custom resolution, such as 900p/1080p, through nvidia control panel or CRU there is a loss of signal. As I understand, with these settings the monitor could just turn off the non-used pixels without the use of any scaling. Does anyone know a workaround ?

Use GPU scaling instead.

Always use GPU scaling.

Always.
