Quick update on my eye strain testing.
**For work (terminal, programming):**
- **MacBook Air M5 13"** eyes badly affected, couldn't last longer than 30–40 min. Returned.
- **MacBook Pro M5 14"** better, can manage 1–2h before I notice my eye focus getting worse. Tried everything: color profiles, every possible setting, BetterDisplay + Stillcolor. Still considering returning it and going for a Lenovo T14 Gen 1 with FHD non-touch panel.
- **ASUS ProArt PA32QCV 32"** — softest display for my eyes out of everything I've tested. Unit arrived scratched, sent back. Planning to reorder.
**For gaming** — investigation still pending. Leaning toward either TN again for CS2, or trying the LG Tandem OLED (720/540 Hz).

This is very interesting! Thanks for sharing this. Could I ask why some OLED displays have fast moving bars while some are very slow while viewing them with a high shutter speed camera? Also I noticed some have one pink/reddish bar while some are all the same gray/black color with no pinkish bar. Trying to better understand OLEDs. Also, blue light is an oldie but goldie: I keep saying this but enough people never think about "computer glasses" -- those cost only $20 from Amazon. Try a supplemental; Orange tinted "computer glasses" are more effective than the low blue light modes and Night Light built into Windows.

i'm still using zowie xl2566x+ , (that 2nd one ) which was delivered by the mistake from amazon - and feeling okayish, well, eyes are tired after whole session using it as main screen for job , and when playing cs2 getting dry eye, but nothing drastically bad as it was with Dell 500hz monitor , also comparing to my first xl2566x - same panel monitor - this one is good.
If you see chessboard artifacts (amplified during DyAc), during odd pixel motion steps at TestUFO (e.g. 3ppf or 5ppf):
Then the panel has slightly miscalibrated voltage-polarity inversion, where in every other refresh cycle, pixels strongly flicker dim/bright. This has nothing to do with FRC, nothing to do with PWM, and nothing to do with other things. A miscalibrated voltage-polarity-inversion is WAY worse than FRC and also WAY worse than temporal dithering (bigger flicker-depth).
This problem is sadly VERY COMMON in TN panels -- and is subject to a factory lottery effect. It means 10x flicker differences between two XL2400 / XL2500 series monitors. I've seen this more than 10 years ago, and I STILL see this today. You lucked out on the factory lottery on the second XL2566x+. For IPS, the flickerdepth of FRC/temporal dither is bigger, but for TN, it's more often a voltage-polarity inversion flicker.
Also, VRR can make it even worse or more visible, and thus exacerbate discomfort.
Just explaining a large likelihood (>50% odds) of why your eyestrain varied between two different XL2566 monitors.
