I would also like to say, it's very annoying that sometimes Gsync is disabled in some games when you are streaming on discord to your friends. Not all games but some games will disable Gsync when you stream on discord regardless if you are in fullscreen or borderless fullscreen which kinda upsets me XD. Baldur's gate 3 for example is one such title, regardless if it's in DX11 or vulkan mode. I don't want to use exclusive fullscreen because then the alt+tabbing isn't as seamless and some games I play bug the screen out for a bit.
I'm concerned linux isn't fully supported by default, I hope they fix bugs on the linux side as well.

For the ASUS XG27AQNGV, my understanding is that when Pulsar is enabled, the default brightness is 500 nits, but the brightness can still be adjusted through the brightness settings, allowing us to reduce the brightness level. Once we set it once, the monitor remembers the setting. In addition, Ambient Adaptive Brightness also affects the displayed brightness, but its maximum brightness is limited by the maximum OSD brightness setting. For example, if the brightness is set to 460 nits in the OSD, the maximum brightness will only reach around 460 nits.

After 2 days of use I'm starting to really like this monitor, set and forget, the sheer brightness buff makes it much better than pg27aqn , the red phosphor backlight and strobing was really distracting, not a problem on this monitor, the bottom right side of the monitor gets pretty hot though

Had it laying around. Made it to test the claim that monitors with the new MediaTek scalers will be cheaper than the ones with Nvidia's module. I've also included few other markets to see where these Pulsar (MediaTek) models land. The pricing mainly applies to Germany (Europe). So far this claim does not ring true, but perhaps it's a bit too soon to judge.
When looking from general specifications perspective, Pulsar models are obviously overpriced. But there’s always a crowd willing to spend extra for specific features - this might be the target audience. Zowie does similarly.
Personally, even though this is my jam, I still wouldn’t pay that much. I'd rather spend extra on higher frame/refresh rate, because more frames is #1 priority in my book. Personal sensitivities to things and preferences vary.

That's my only actual 'real' concern with the monitor. I regularly pull my monitor towards me when I'm playing games with a controller - and push it back when I'm using mouse & keyboard.
Every time I do that motion I can feel how warm the actual monitor is. It probably doesn't help that we've got a mini heatwave going here in the UK at the minute but I'd have probably accepted a little quiet fan spinning to guarantee the monitor doesn't get hot to touch.

I think the price is worth it, even if it is IPS, the value of having such great blur reduction with VRR and a bright screen that even does decent-ish HDR ontop of it is just justifying it to me.
The 10-bits wide color gamut also shows far better whites and just general better popping colors than the PG279Q with its 8-bit SDR could ever achieve, which even cost me about €150,- more 10 years ago, but then again that is also far older tech as this point.
The new 1.1.6 firmware really helps a ton with eliminating that double-ghosting problem we had prior and caused Pulsar not to show the capabilities properly it was capable of.
Sure there are a few cons like DSC for older cards, startup times and no capability to disable DP-deep sleep but I can look past that if the display works well when it is turned on.
I see one store here even selling it for €589,- now on discount for a while which is very acceptable.
Can't wait to see MiniLED monitors equipped with Pulsar tech in the future, at higher resolutions, different aspect ratio's etc, that should basically take away the 'IPS caveats' and make a best of both worlds type display, no more burn in, great colors and contrast, VRR with Pulsar, high brightness, what is not to like.
The future for Pulsar seems really bright and I hope developments continue because this is pretty much as close as we'll get in terms of CRT-like displays for blur reduction, well putting aside ULMB but then you give up VRR.
But for Pulsar + VRR it is still important to have stable frametimes, it might be impossible to fully solve possible 'blur' issues with frametime spikes as its not really predictable and easy to adapt to so maybe some games you're better off without it, like WoW in crowded areas.
I sat playing Jak & Daxter through OpenGOAL with a locked 150 FPS and pretty stable frametimes and it was pretty much flawless, no flickering. However, if I started to stream it with OBS the x264 encoder on medium preset may cause some slight frametime hitches capturing the data from the GPU which may cause moments where the display messed up the strobing timing so it would show very short spikes of motion blur and regain its visual stability after.
But generally I'm having a great blast with this monitor.
I also played Metro 2033, the original with GPU PhysX on the RTX 5090 the past week using the GoG release and it's working great! Even with the game locked to 120 FPS because the GoG release does this intentionally to avoid game-breaking bugs. No flickering either, visuals were sharp in motion.
The only confusing part with the Metro 2033 and Last Light Complete Edition games right now is that PhysX with GPU only works on the GoG release and not on Steam despite having the correct GPU profiles set.
Interestingly though, I am currently on the 596.49 driver, and the Metro 2033 steam benchmark tools works with GPU PhysX, and Last Light Complete Edition benchmark tool on Steam does not, despite knowing that Last Light Complete Edition on Steam did in fact work with PhysX on the benchmark tool when PhysX was first reinstated for the RTX-5000 series, even after reinstalling PhysX + Legacy PhysX it keeps not functioning so something broke in newer drivers along the way (Windows 10 22H2 x64 Pro + ESU)
Still would recommend getting those games on GoG they are on sale right now and unlike the Redux versions these were tailored towards the PC ecosystem instead of consoles.
Speaking of CRT, I actually found out I have Sony Trinitron on the attic, looks to be the model KV21T1R with the BE-4A chassis.
Not used it in 20 years, probably still works, still have remote and it supports teletext, seems to be one of the models to have for retro gaming.
Sometimes you don't realize what gems you still have in storage, have three CRT TVs and five or six CRT monitors but it hardly gets used these days

I think we need to address the issue with borderless settings and pulsar, some games just work fine with gsync set only in fullscreen, in PUBG, if u set gsync for fullscreen, or set it to fullscreen and windowed, pulsar only works with fullscreen and don't work at all in borderless mode, and this is so frustrating, u don't have visuals and u don't understand with your naked eye that pulsar on or off, just with the coming blur.
They need to fix gsync and pulsar for working like intended in all borderless fullscreen game modes across all the game, not a limited games.

Anyone running your XG27AQNGV in 'Pixel Perfect' mode? (2368x1332 with 24" Default Scaling Enabled) You have a black border, but the image is very crisp. I believe this is for folks used to running 24" esports monitors. I've been playing around with it, and it looks very nice if you can get past the black borders.

So you are saying pulsar is switched on (in your display OSD) but its still blurry ingame? That would be weird. However I agree we need the option to activate a watermark which tells you which mode the display is running:
Gsync on/off
ULMB2/Pulsar/none
DSC on/off
And of course as mentioned many times... a software switch to turn this on or off. I also have additional screens on both sides and the pulsar screen is closely mounted to a wall. Its hard to reach the button.

Maybe u don't understand what I'm talking about, in PUBG, when u set in-game fullscreen, pulsar works like intended, if u set in-game borderless fullscreen, pulsar stops working and u can notice blur ( it stops working even if u use fullscreen and windowed gsync for PUBG), in other games sometimes it works good in borderless, sometimes its just don't work in any settings in borderless fullscreen mode and they need to fix this, cause borderless mode much more better than exclusive fullscreenmawi wrote: ↑26 May 2026, 02:02So you are saying pulsar is switched on (in your display OSD) but its still blurry ingame?
