New FreeSync options - Variable & Static - in RadeonTuner.

I don't know how many people use RadeonTuner, but I've found it to be much better than Adrenaline and/or Afterburner.

Anyway, I updated it to the latest version and saw this new option under FreeSync:

Does anyone know if there is any real difference between variable and static? I understand the implications in principle but not in practice.
