Pulsar Monitor Comparison

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

Pulsar Monitor Comparison

Post by Depo » 01 Sep 2026, 04:38

Hello guys.

I'm interested in purchasing one of the pulsar monitors, and Ive narrowed them down to either the XG27AQNGV (Asus variant) or the MSI MPG 272QRF X36. Theyre going for a similar price where I live. Ideally Id like to buy this week.

Can anyone answer please;

Which monitor performs better in motion clarity when using Pulsar? (Im assuming there is going to be small differenced if any anyway)

Does the MSI's pulse width make the strobing more effective when using ULMB2 mode over the ASUS?
I believe the ASUS variant doesnt have this option in their firmware.

And any other reasons to go with either one?

Thanks.

Any Pulsar monitor doesn't have any difference except response time GtG and color depth only:
-response times
Acer and MSI - 0.5ms while restante monitors - 1ms

-color depthes
Acer and AOC - 8-bit per channel (bpc, 16.8M)
ASUS - 10bpc (1.074B) while MSI 8bpc + FRC = 10bpc
CPU: i7-12700KF@stock without E-core
RAM: 2x16GB DDR4@3600MHz
MB: MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4
GPU: Zotac RTX 4090 non-OC <3 :D
Opt. disc: LG BD-RE writer BH16NS40

Colour depth and response times are the same across all Pulsar monitors, they're the exact same panels and they're tuned by Nvidia - so I'm a little unsure on where the above has come from.

To answer OP's questions:

Which monitor performs better in motion clarity when using Pulsar?

They are exactly the same in every way.

Does the MSI's pulse width make the strobing more effective when using ULMB2 mode over the ASUS?

Both the MSI and Asus have the exact same strobing implementation for ULMB2, there is no difference between them.

The Asus model has adjustable pulse width for the ULMB2 modes.
