Hello
i am using a 240hz monitor and i have g sync on. However i like to play certain games on 60 fps and when i do the in game fps counter is a really steady 60, however the monitors built in osd counter is driving me crazy it does not stay at 60hz at all it constantly jumps all over the place to numbers like 58,62, 131, 156, etc it even reaches up to 200 or 240 sometimes barely staying at the 60 range. is this normal and is my monitor actually running way above my fps limit when it spikes insanely like that? Any peace of mind or explanation would help please.
This is my monitor ASUS TUF 27" 1080p HD IPS LED Gaming Monitor (VG279QM5A) - G-Sync/FreeSync Premium - 0.3ms GTG - 240Hz

Re: monitor osd hz jumping crazy even when capped fps
This is normal when using limiters like RTSS async, Nvidia's driver limiter, Special K's "low-latency VRR" limiter, and most in-game limiters. They sacrifice frame time stability for lower latency.
You can switch to Special K's "normal" limiter, or the RTSS "front-edge sync" limiter and the Hz indicator should be way more stable, at the expense of somewhat higher latency. SK's "normal" limiter should be the most stable one when it comes to frame times.
The point is though that the low-latency limiters should not produce so much frame time jitter as to become stuttery. Even if the Hz indicator is sometimes jumping all over the place, if what you see on the screen is still smooth, then I wouldn't worry about it.
