Just use the windows utility and move the crosstalk slider to the right then back to the left to reset strobe phase to 000.
Or you can enter the service menu (if the utility is crashing--or just use the older version of it). Then you can set strobe phase to 000 while blur reduction is off.
When using VT 1500 or VT 1300 tweak, phase can't exceed 050 at 120 hz or 059 at 100hz or it will shut off the backlight.

Re: Blur Buster Strobe Utility always crashes on startup
This is exactly what is happening to me whenever I try to run the current blur buster strobe utility. I downloaded the older v11 program and it works fine. What am I missing by not using the newer program?
Btw here's what mine says:

Mine also crashes at startup, BUT... only if I open it "normally" via double-click, however if I use "Run as Administrator" then it works fine
Re: Blur Buster Strobe Utility always crashes on startup
Does anyone know if there is a benefit to using the newer version if you dont have a G-Sync monitor?VarHyid wrote:Mine also crashes at startup, BUT... only if I open it "normally" via double-click, however if I use "Run as Administrator" then it works fine

Re: Blur Buster Strobe Utility always crashes on startup
Good question, when I switched over I could run less persistence yet keep the brightness up - that to me means it doesn't match 1:1 to the older tool but I know bugger all. So in the end I just maxed brightness, VT1500 and dropped persistence / crosstalk to 0 or whatever the smallest value is on the tool and was very happy.Deex wrote:Does anyone know if there is a benefit to using the newer version if you dont have a G-Sync monitor?VarHyid wrote:Mine also crashes at startup, BUT... only if I open it "normally" via double-click, however if I use "Run as Administrator" then it works fine

Re: Blur Buster Strobe Utility always crashes on startup
No benefit to using the newer version on a Z series (besides it possibly error checking for out of range values like strobe phase of 100). It's just a front end to communicate with the service menu. The windows utility can not do anything that can't already be changed in the service menu
Re: Blur Buster Strobe Utility always crashes on startup
Sorry to resurrect this old thread but I just wanted to report that I am experiencing exactly the same problem.
And like for the others, using an older version seems to be the only solution.
I believe that it has something to do with Windows 10, since I was using the latest version with Windows 7 some months ago and I did not have any issue.

UPDATE!
New compatible version of Strobe Utility here: http://www.blurbusters.com/strobe-utility
It will display an Unauthorized Access message if running on a privelege-level-restricted system, instead of crashing.

Re: [FIXED] Blur Buster Strobe Utility always crashes on sta
Hello!
I thank you for releasing a new version but I must unfortunately report that, again, this is not working on my computer running Windows 10.
It hangs while detecting monitors. Windows 10, for some reason, uses a Zowie 2411 driver for my BenQ 2411z but even after my manual change to the correct driver, the problem persists.
On the other hand, changing to the proper driver made version 1.1 work (if I keep the Zowie driver that Windows 10 installs automatically, version 1.1 will report the monitor being unsupported).
Now, I am really curious as to why this is happening and how many others are experiencing the same.
Thanks for your work!
