XL2430T Blur Reduction - Help!
Trying to wrap my head around this feature. I've used it with the test provided here, the moving photo. From what I can tell by using it, it really makes the picture look crisp. I can see the details when its moving, I just loved it. However, while playing far cry 4, I haven't tested it out on any other game yet, when I move the camera left and right it feels like its skipping, not sure what the correct word I'm looking for is. Even with the moving photo test I was able to see a second very faint trail.
I've made sure to use AMA before turing BR on. But no matter what I do, far cry with this feature look awful, well, moving the camera looks awful. I would really like to hear some suggestion regarding this problem. Help would also be welcomed.
Thank you,
Oronnoro
Edit:
When I said that having BR on and it causes the camera to feel like its skipping, what I feel like I should have said, things looks distorted. objects and NPC's looks like they are vibrating when moving the camera. But moving pictures still have that second faints trail.

Can you hold stable fps similar to your refresh rate? example: if you output 120fps at 120hz you won't notice that skipping.

I can, like I said skipping wasn't the problem, it's that when moving the camera around leaves doubles, or trails, something. with blur reduction.
It also leaves behind a trail when I was looking at the moving photo (test) at fast speeds. Not sure if that's supposed to happen. Just want to know what's going on with this feature because it's not looks so amazing anymore.

Far Cry is probably too demanding to keep FPS=refresh rate, unless you use single strobe and 60 hz strobing. If your framerate is not equal to your refresh rate, you are going to get stuttering. This happened on CRT monitors also, but the stuttering is more noticeable on LCD's (Even if strobing) due to how the refreshes differ from CRTs to LCD's. Playing at 75 fps on a 120hz refresh rate CRT was acceptable. But playing at 75 fps on a 120hz strobed LCD is a stutterfest.

That is probably the ghosting (the trail). The reverse ghosting is normal on these monitors.Oronnoro wrote:I can, like I said skipping wasn't the problem, it's that when moving the camera around leaves doubles, or trails, something. with blur reduction.

AMA off gives the least ghosting (as I've noticed) but AMA high is less blurry and AMA premium has even more ghosting. I haven't noticed it while gaming though, so maybe you could add a video from a camera so we can get an idea?

Re: XL2430T Blur Reduction - Help!
Best camera I got is a phone, quality would probably be bad. I think what I'm seeing is the ghosting. When I move the camera left and right fast, but in small increments, things start to darken a little and basically starts to trail, at least that's what I'm getting from this.
But to be honest, I don't see any image improvements with it on, the only place I saw BR work was with the tests off this site, with the moving photo, and even with that leaving BR on left a huge trail behind.
Example:
[--------] <--The Picture
[---[--------] <--The Picture with BR on. The little bit is the trail.
I'm not over exaggerating with the trail there ether. If I use the 1920 pixels/sec with Eiffel Tower the trail is very noticeable but the picture is super clear. Now, I'v tried to play with the settings when BR is enabled, but I cannot remove the trail, it's there one way or another.
So far, I do not understand the advantages of Blur Reduction. I've read about it, seen awful BenQ comparisons on YouTube, and what they show it does. But in real world comparison, I'm disappointed.

What's your GPU? If it's Nvidia, there's a way to use Lightboost instead of Blur Reduction. There is A LOT less ghosting, despite losing contrast and color quality. I use one or the other depending on the game.
Overdrive artifacts need to go. Hopefully future OLED panels can bring perfect motion quality

I'm running with an nvidia card 980, but have no knowledge of how to add this light boost. Unless you would be willing to walk me through it, that would be very appreciated.
Edit:
Found a way to do it using this video.
Cannot tell is lightboost is working or not. Nope not working haha. A well.

Re: XL2430T Blur Reduction - Help!
So I just noticed what you were describing in game. I actually didn't have this issue but recently I changed the brightness on my 2411Z to 100 and used the tool to give 1ms persistence and also used the 1502 VT tweak.
If AMA is on high/premium I can notice the ghosting (which I wasn't able to notice ingame before) on objects but the weird thing is it doesn't always happen. It occurs often and can be seen near objects when moving. I am sure I would have noticed it before so it's either the VT tweak or the 100 brightness/ 1ms persistence option.
Before I was using 25 brightness / 4-5ms persistence and no VT tweak. Will do some testing and report back.

Re: XL2430T Blur Reduction - Help!
The XL2430T's trail can be greatly diminished by using the VT1350 trick and using the service menu to adjust strobe phasing.
Unfortunately, the XL2430T is incompatible with the Blur Busters Strobe Utilty, so adjustments need to be made via the service menu.
Another option is to use the LightBoost hack instead (via the EDID override), but that is very complicated.
