Benq XL2430t PLEASE Help me.. pulling my hair out

Post by fuckbenq » 08 Mar 2015, 17:57

Hi, I've been browsing this site on and off for months, picking up info on monitors, general reviews, information etc

I just recently bought a benq xl2430t off amazon a few days ago. It arrived last friday, on the 6th, so i've had it for a couple of days.
Honestly, this thing is driving me crazy and it's really pissing me off. The only thing I can say that i enjoy about the monitor is the 144hz. That is it. The response times are nice aswell.

What is driving me insane is a few things... but before i go into those what i really need help understanding is this....

benq took off their 'earlier' versions of this monitor which had a premium tag on them for software service, drivers, profiles, and general functionality. those models are not available for sale. so. the next one is the 2430t over the 2420t. ok. i buy it and pay the $450.
i go on their website, and theres no drivers for it, no firmware, no driver, and 0 profiles. cool, i pop the disc in and the only "driver" it gives me is a benq certificate that is dated from 2013 and a generic ICC profile which literally did nothing.

Ok, so i pop in the icc profile i found for this monitor on this site (one of the two i could only find after scouring google) it helped, it fixed alot of the shitty colours, but when i open my display pilot software and make a contrast change of a value of "1", the entire colour scheme fucked up and got lost as if i changed it in the windows settings, which i did not.

so, after being infuriated from not being able to duplicate my "ok" colour settings i had previously, i thought its time to open a forum post about this monitor

this monitor is making me pull my hair out literally

The vibrance and brightness is killing me and my eyes, and disorienting me and driving me insane. if i lower the brightness its way too dark and hurts my eyes, if i put it up its like its burning my fucking cornea

next, there is no damn driver for this thing and yet i pay for the 2nd most expensive "premium" monitor and theres nothing for it, i feel like ive wasted my money

all that is enjoyable is the 144hz

im opening this post for the sole purpose to find out if ive fucked up buying this monitor, if i should return it and wait until a new monitor comes out this year for the price ive payed and buy that one instead... maybe a new monitor that has actually been worked on in depth and has been the highlight of the year like the previous 2420t ... the same kind of "premium" service and quality i was expecting to recieve when paying for the newly remarketed bullshit 2430t

i read somewhere on this site that the hardware of this monitor is great (panel, strobes etc) but the incapability and primitive software given by benq hinders the monitor greatly, which i feel is true

so im here for advice and would like info from others who know about this monitor first hand, or have it or have owned it or know friends who own it

i need help, should i re turn it and wait for a new premium monitor to come out this year

is there anything im missing, any drivers or software to help with it

the only thing that is 'ok' is when im ingame, in cs go

but even then its only "okay" the only thing that made me happy at first was the 144hz, and eh... the non perceivable input lag, cuz w/e , my older monitor also had fast response times anyway

*EDIT* I'd also like the mention the fact that... this monitor has been out since (as far as I know, correctly) is sept 2014, could be even earlier... but...... sept 2014.... it had no drivers released on benq's website... fast forward to mo fucking march 8, 2015..... benq STILL has not released any drivers or firmware for this monitor

Also i feel completely left in the dark by benq as their shitty manual does not explain nothing about what each of their settings actually mean and does not even inform me that there is a whole other menu i can acess if i hold the power button or w/e for 4 seconds..... it does not inform me how to get the most out of my monitor
i feel jipped

Sorry for the type of toxic post ive written... maybe i could have done a more intelligent and intelligble post
but i am literally 1 nerve away from punching a hole into this monitor so that has been my mind state going into writing this post.... lol

anyway ireally appreciate if anybody can post a reply and help me, and i appreciate and thank anyone reading and taking the time to post and help, thanks

I've got the XL2430T as well. Display Pilot comes with the drivers and ICC profile. The version of Display Pilot on the BenQ site is outdated and buggy, but you can find the latest one here: http://www.portrait.com/dtune/ben/enu/upgrade.html

Anyway the first thing you should do is change the picture mode to standard from game1. If it's still hurting your eyes, turn the low blue light setting up to 10. Then calibrate gamma as you see fit in Display Pilot or in the OSD.

Hey i also got a question about the picture modes. Between fps1 and standard mode, is there any actual calibrated functions or setup done by benq, to give me an "ingame advantage" in fps1 over standard? What i'm trying to say is, will I be missing anything extraordinary that may come with this monitor when playing in standard?

fps1 is what hurts your eyes on the desktop. It's basically a gamma/contrast adjustment. I don't really bother with it because I'm used to normal colors as long as I've been playing CS.

Hey there mate,

I'm a XL2430T owner as well and in the beggining i was left in the dark in wich concerns to colour reproduction etc. I can tell you right now this is an awesome monitor so don't get that mad and return it for no apparent reason, it is a fast TN panel, not being an IPS (better colours) it needs a bit of tweaking at first, which you'll never have to worry about after you get this settled.

I would personally not recommend using Display Pilot, to me it seems a bit useless... Check this thread, http://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1848 , where i've posted my updated settings like colour scheme, blur reduction, ICC profile etc and also specific settings for CS:GO.
