So CRT-motion-quality WUXGA (1920x1200) don't exist yet?

Post by CathodeSwagTube » 23 Nov 2015, 04:58

I've been using a CRT for 10 years and it's great in all aspects, except for one problem, which is that I've sort of out-grown the 19in UXGA screen area.

What I need is a screen with the same image-motion-quality, just larger. Doesn't matter what kind.

The only WUXGA screen with over 60hz I've found is the 85hz Philips Brilliance 240P4QPYE, but I guess that will have tons of blur.

If blur can be eliminated with strobe backlight, and I generally don't run my games at more than 60fps, is there even any point in getting more than 60hz though?

Are you looking for another CRT? Or a monitor with a strobed backlight that can strobe at 60hz refresh rate (single strobe) along with all the 60hzh flicker goodness?

Wow, that's a sweet monitor. I wonder if I can find one in Europe.

It's true that I do see the flicker when running CRT at 60hz. I guess my minimum specs would be 85hz+ WUXGA with CRT-persistence then.

CRT or flatscreen doesn't matter, as long as it has the right image quality.

I see.
Give this monitor a try, then.

http://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2467

It's currently on sale and in stock. I use it myself and I was one of the people who REFUSED to stop using CRT's until the last CRT I had, a P1130, died a flyback arcing transformer death.

And check my forum thread carefully on how to make it the most CRT like (note: it's impossible to remove ALL crosstalk on a LCD due to pixel persistence issues. That can only be done on a strobed OLED and they don't yet exist).

Yes, I have a few of them and they are utterly phenomenal, especially when properly calibrated. See my trinitron WPB guide here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1830788.

There's also a 10 year thread dedicated to the FW900 here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=952788

One thing you can do is set up a google alert for "FW900".

Maybe I should just get VR and do all my gaming on that then.
