Power filters/conditioners for improved image quality?

Post by dmbr » 02 Dec 2015, 22:37

I've been looking into power conditioning/filtering options lately (mostly Furman devices), and the manufacturers claim these products can improve image quality on TV's and monitors (as well as audio quality). I've also read the specific claim that these can potentially resolve the "black bars" problem that arises in some displays (Asus ROG Swift seems to have this in a number of setups/units).

Is there any credibility to these claims? What improvements might actually be at all possible?

Thanks :)

these do work perfectly as intended...you do use a CRT TV with an analog amplifier right?...

I went out on a limb and picked up a Furman P-8 Pro Series II Linear Power Conditioner for $50 + shipping, and...

You're wrong!

Bolder/less washed-out colors and reduced flicker on my PG278q, and lower noise floor on my audio setup!

Great investment.

Is that a surge protector? Why would that do anything other than preventing lightning strikes from frying your PSU or similar? :-P

>lower noise floor on my audio setup!

Wait, i can prove this wrong so easily, i own a UPS with surge protection and all that jazz. I'll just turn everything off except for my amp and turn it way up and listen for the noise floor...

Little bit of proof: https://youtu.be/wVtZqozGEMY

TLDW: It doesn't matter what i plug it into.
