[NEED HELP] Help me please, what to choose? (24-27"/144Hz)

Post by nightmaster47 » 02 Feb 2016, 07:48

Dozens of hours surfing in the search of answers. 2 moneybacks (BenQ XL2411Z, PHILIPS 242G5DJEB).
And now I'm here.
What I know is that 144Hz is awesome and WE NEED MOAR :D I'm truly believe 144Hz not a limit for human eyes. But, anyway I need to start with some monitor.
What I want is just a good 144Hz 24-27" monitor. Full HD is enough for me. TN+film is okay too if panel is not from the baddest.

So, XL2411Z was absolutely terrible in terms of image quality, panel was 100% defective, but anyway many users tells that BenQ are rather bad in terms of contrast and color accuracy.
PHILIPS has extremely poor build quality, like some 30$ Chinese noname monitor. And no blur reduction of any kind.

So, I've had a headache after all this. I really need help..

I learned few things after all this expirience:
1) YOU CANT TRUST TO ANY KIND OF REVIEWS.
2) Quality of monitors(and everything) nowadays are really BAAAAD. [Don't know about 500EUR+ segment]

Now I've ended up with this variants:

1) BenQ 2720Z for 465 EUR - (ghosting?)
2) IIYAMA ProLite GB2488HU-B1 for 272 EUR - really good in terms of blur reduction and responsibility (absolutely no ghosting?)
3) IIYAMA ProLite GB2788HS-B1 for 345 EUR - Can it handle overdrive(blur reduction) + 144Hz?

What can you say about them? And any others 144/24-27. Please. I'm sitting now with terrible 19" LG chineese sh.. that has colors similar to 10" chineese multimedia player because I've already gifted my ViewSonic to GF D:

And what about OVERDRIVE+DIRECTDRIVE+144Hz vs BenQs 144Hz+Blur Reduction?
I've tried Blur Reduction and it's really awesome, but mess up brightness a bit.

So on the one hand we have Iiyama with OVERDRIVE+DIRECTDRIVE+144Hz and no (or almost no) GHOSTING while on the other hand we have BenQ with Blur Reduction BUT WITH GHOSTING.. It's really noticeable in this test http://www.testufo.com/#test=ghosting

I've also heard about some bug that can turn 2720Z in TEH BEST MONITOHR EVAHR (no ghosting like on Iiyama GB2488HU + Blur Reduction): http://www.overclock.net/t/1548299/v4-f ... new-screen

For reviews have a look at http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ as they do some fantastic stuff.

And i would look into Asus and Acer monitors as they seam to be some top notch stuff with amazing overdriver performance.

What's better for gaming? To have ULMB(blur reduction) and ghosting or absolutely no ghosting but w/o ULMB?
I know one thing now, that 60Hz is absolutely not enough for me, It's limiting me, my perception in far better than 60Hz.
But I'm afraid 144Hz w/o blur reduction may be not enough, because 144Hz+ULMB must feel like 200Hz+???

Well, it seems that BenQ one of the best brands in terms of blur reduction and stuff... but I'm afraid to buy another BenQ because of that:

Look at this, Dark spot + dark pattern + it can't render gray in some places. It is normal quality for BenQ or this one is defective and If I'll get another one it may be good?

No, not really. I find that G-Sync helps with fluidity because every frame is perfect. No screen tears, so you don't ever see only half of the screen update.

> Dark spot + dark pattern

This is because of the (Pretty crappy at this point) TN panel technology. Some look better or worse but they are mostly all like that.

If you find the acer predator gsync XB240H, take it, I think its the best 24" on the market for a gamer.
Everybody ignore that monitor I don't know why.... we can't even find it anymore in France, the prices are high in my country, I don't know why its the opposite in USA... so if you find it buy it.

Believe me I tested them all, asus/benq/aoc have the same panel, the acer have the best panel because the colors are better, I have it at home. In term of motion blur, pixel response etc... I don't think you can notice a difference between all these screens except with a machine.

The only problem with the acer, the monitor is ugly, no usb ports on it, cheap plastic, but the panel is the best. Maybe the vision angles aren't so good, you need to be perfectly in front of the screen or the colors won't match everywhere, its not a screen for photoshop... but are least you will see some colors.
