Well thanks for your explanations..I must agree that BENQ support is not good.. I wrote to BENQ and no response from them.. I guess I'll have to order the MSTAR unit and ask Benq to have the firmware and do the upgrade by myself (let's hope that we don't have to open the monitor for that).. yup another 50 bucks on top on a 500$+tx+sh expense.. or I still have a couple of days to ask for refund.. Chief, what are your recommendations, should I return my monitor and order an V248QE with a G-Sync module from OL instead?

i think you guys should take a step back and let benq fix the issue with the firmware first. there is no reason to assume the monitors will have to be shipped back to fix this bug. other manufactures like samsung can update monitor firmware via DDC benq may as well.

hm, that sounds frustrating. I bet the monitors released here in germany in a few days, have this bug to......no, im 100% sure they have. Because as I know from my experience new firmwares need at least a few months till they release it, so they tested them 4 bugs, stability, etc.

I already had the idea, that we could buy this units to flash the firmware and only one guy buys it, and then we send it from user to user. That way we only need on of this and everybody only needs to pay the delivery charges.

Except, BenQ themselves recommended I return the monitor (not to them for service, to the place I bought it from). And they have terrible service. And they shipped a new product with a defect with arguably it's most prominent feature. And I have a limited time with which to get my money back. And since the feature doesn't work I can't actually judge whether the blur reduction is effective or not. So while I was prepared to go the extra mile for the promise of this monitor, I've been given no reason to have confidence that BenQ will get their act together, not after the way they have handled it so far.

Benq's monitor firmware cant be flashed via ddc and needs special hw part to do it.

I had to deal with Benq once before when an older 24" monitor crapped out on me just barely under warranty. Long story short, some of their CS reps are complete idiots and some are good to deal with.

If the person you get wont work with you request a supervisor, if that wont work hang up and call again until you get a supervisor or a rep that will work with you. Once that happens get their name and direct phone number.

I went through 6 refurbished monitors because the model I had was no longer available, all shipped next day air. After the 6th I said that they could have sent me a new one and saved $ on the shipping and that is what the last one was.

Any way be persistent until you get the right CS rep and then deal with only that person.

That would be the correct way to deal with the reps, as long as you stay respectful.

And with your previous experience, hindsight is 20/20, but there are also policies in place for replacements like that, and most of the time refurbished should work fine, but I'm sorry you went through six of them. I've been on the other end of this situation, and given a customer a few models that due to bad luck, were all terrible. Not that I did it on purpose, but chance can just be cruel like that.

Anyway, regarding the current situation with BenQ, I personally would stay put and wait for the firmware fix to be released. If you already have one, then I would say it depends on how much it bothers you, though these monitors being so specific I would bet that would be most people. Waiting sucks, sure, but getting the product correct, out of the box is what I would prefer.

I miss a statement of BenQ here !!! I think someone from them surly reads this disscussion here.

So PLZ BenQ give us a statement, or somekind of information when the firmewarebug is fixed. Im not going to buy one untill I know this.....and if I have to wait to long Im going for an Asus monitor.

@Admin

perhaps you should pinn this somewhere, that the community likes to hear a statement on this issue. It could be, that they dont read the hole discussion

I have been talking to BENQ and expressed the importance of expediting this. But still, it is still taking time. I know this means people who have the monitors are out of luck. As Chief Blur Buster, if you want to return the units and get different monitors, it is a valid option I can understand going for.

Meanwhile, if any of you order the MSTAR unit, please PM me and I can see what can be done more quickly.
