Hello,
yesterday i received the LG UltraGear 27GN750-B monitor which is
- an IPS panel
- has 240HZ refresh rate
- no motion blur reduciton technology
- very low input lag (for an ips panel)
- implied good color reproduction.
Out of the box i was really impressed with the 240hz (switching from 120) and vibrant colors. Motion clarity was decent depending on how fast the objects are moving. Moving on, I tried to tone down the brightness as I'm used to low brightness from the early strobing days and my eyes get strained if i use bright displays for a long period of time.
Now here is the catch - if you lower the brightness, the colors lose all their vibrance and the whole palette becomes extremely scewed. Whites get very warm, dark tones very dark. For 6 hours I tried to find a balance between brightness and color by using all the settings there are - preset profiles with lower brightness, custom profile, cold tones to compensate for the drop, manual rgb channel calibration, black equalizer etc etc...
The best I could accomplish at 50% brightness was comparable to what I have on my xl2420t (6bit+2frc tn panel 0% brightness 0% contrast). This was very disappointing coming from an native 8bit ips.
The whole selling point of the monitor is to have a fast panel while also having great colors for work/movies. The colors at low brightness are just as bad as the common tn panels.
I can only recommend this panel to people with robust eyes who are using 100% brightness on their setup.
I'm wondering if the XG270 suffers from the same symptoms at 240HZ (pref strobed even if the motion clarity is not as good as at 120hz).
If it does I guess my only option is to wait for the new BenQ which is crazy expensive but at least delivers what it promises.
Regards

what is your setting for the monitor, do you turn off black stabilizer for better blacks? Can you share your settings? I couldn't find a better calibrated settings
