Re: BENQ Zowie XL2746S/XL2546S Owners Thread
Even a temperature difference of 2 degrees can create that amount of overdrive difference on the SAME monitor. (Ever forgot a smartphone in a cold car in the winter? Same thing can happen to subtler extents like minor overdrive differences at small temperature changes.)
Comments are turned off for that YouTube so I can't communicate to that YouTube author and ask.
Also, the YouTube author might want to consider reading the Pursuit Camera Forum and adding some WYSIWYG pursuit camera tests too.
Were both monitors warmed up for at least 1 hour in the same-temperature room?

They also measured the new Benq monitors to have slower input lag than the older models AND than the new VG279QM, information that contradicts all the other reviews so far.

I'd like to know lag measurement methodology.DrUninstall wrote: ↑07 May 2020, 20:22They also measured the new Benq monitors to have slower input lag than the older models AND than the new VG279QM, information that contradicts all the other reviews so far.
There's many ways to lag-stopwatch. Stopwatch start can be VBI-based or Present()-based, behave different with different sync tech, and stopwatch-stop can be varying GtG percentages (GtG2% or GtG100%) etc. That's why Leo Bodnar tester (1080p 60Hz VSYNC ON) is good for ranking displays for gaming consoles, and why SMTT 2.0 / RTINGS tests (ultra high framerate VSYNC OFF) is better tests for CS:GO esports players.
And different locations on screens have big enough lag gradients that monitor A is laggier than monitor B for screen top edge, while monitor B is laggier than monitor A for screen bottom edge. So non-standard photodiode oscilloscope locations (away from screen dead centre) can create leapfrog effects where manufacturer A is better than B, and vice versa.
And the shape of the GtG curves (fast at beginning, slow at end) can cause a leapfrog effect if you change the GtG % stopwatch threshold for lag stopwatching.
"First anywhere" reactions (video based lag tests) can also be different from "First at this pixel" reactions (screen location center) too.
Single-point photodiode tests are single-pixel tests. They don't always tell the same story as well as a 10,000fps high speed camera measuring the latency of the whole screen surface, taking advantage of all factors (absolute lag, latency volatility, and latency gradients).
Seeing the japanese author has a 5760fps high speed camera, perhaps they used the "first anywhere" test.
Lag tests are like snowflakes. No two lag methodologies are the same. Can't compare numbers across different sites because of totally different latency-stopwatching methodology.

How is a review site so bad at taking pursuit photos? That's not at all how it looks. One thing they did get right is the monitor is definitely no good for 60-120 Hz gaming (144 Hz is passable). Crosstalk noise becomes evident and it's not good at all and it's what I've said all along--if you want to play at low refresh rates, look elsewhere.DrUninstall wrote: ↑07 May 2020, 20:22Yeah, unfortunately there are a lot of variables.Chief Blur Buster wrote: ↑07 May 2020, 20:12Even a temperature difference of 2 degrees can create that amount of overdrive difference on the SAME monitor. They should re-do their Dyac motion photos because that looks like a blurry mess. You can compare it to my photo and videos which I took w/a regular iPhone X and it looks worlds different. Believe me when I say this, if it looked as bad as that gif above, I would have sent this thing packing back to Amazon in a heartbeat and bought something else.
Mine for comparison:

Here's a YouTuber who goes into detail (as much detail as you can for a YT review) but he shows DyAc+ in motion which again contradicts that terrible Japanese gif: https://youtu.be/iy6QPIn9ORI?t=293 My DyAc+ motion photos look better than this reviewers because I use 182 Hz with VT 1350 which makes it look even better vs 240 Hz.

For real.
Blur brush artifacts.
Ugh.
Anybody here speak japanese, so they can contact them?
I can definitively confirm that the best hobby pursuits here are vastly superior to the worst reviewers. Yours definitely fall in that "better than worst reviewers" territory.

Unlike the chief, I do not consider it necessary for them to write anything. This only draws attention to them.
Nevertheless, reviewers most often work on the default settings + color profile. And to speak of contradictions, giving an example with vt tweak+hz seems to me inappropriate.
I often do not clearly state my thoughts. google translate is far from perfect. And in addition to the translator, I myself am mistaken. Do not take me seriously.

Yes but that's why I linked the YouTube review which shows it at stock 240Hz with dyac. His results are close enough to my tweaked ones regardless.1000WATT wrote: ↑08 May 2020, 02:03

Thanks, that's high praise coming from the Chief himself. It's disappointing when reviewers put out content like that because many depend on that and it gives an incorrect picture of the hardware being reviewed. I guess that's why only a few good places are trusted with reviews because they're consistent--most of the time anyway.Chief Blur Buster wrote: ↑07 May 2020, 23:07
